What's this about free floating being new? Has someone had one that wasn't? All of mine are.
Yeah, the lug and shroud have been rumored but they really only seem to be hotly contested issues where people are concerned about them and possible failure but actual occurrences seem to be rare and in extreme instances.
I just added a steel recoil lug "just because I was doing some other stuff to it" and I did notice a distinct imprint on the aluminum one - I just thought about that as I read this, if I didn't already toss it I'll take a picture and post it, it was that obvious
Yeah, I'm sure that wear is noticeable. How many rounds would you say were through that rifle before you changed the lug out? I'm not denying that a steel lug wouldn't have better longevity. I just don't know that the possibility of an actual failure of the lug or a drastic change in accuracy is a real concern, do you? I know you have much more experience with Tikkas than I probably ever will.
Are yours wood stock or synthetic? I thought they were all floated when I got mine but when I asked here it seems it's standard for the synthetic to have points that touch.
