I cleaned a new out of the box CVA Accura LRX 45 cal rifle and was surprised how dirty the barrel was. Has anyone had this experience and is this common? Haven’t shot it yet. Thanks!

Everything gets test fired from the factory. Doesn't mean they're gonna clean it after. They also put some type of preservative on the metal. The Wolfe V2 I bought years ago looked like it was rusted out of the box, when I called the retailer, they told me about it, and to give it a good wipe down. It cleaned right up and still shot like absolute dog shit. So take what you will out of that.

Just wondering................. who told you that "Everything gets test fired at the factory"?
That is 100% BS.
They use Cosmoline as a rust preventative. They have no clue how long a rifle may be boxed up prior to it being sold. Takes work to get it out of the barrel.

I can tell you that all 4 CVA Wolf rifles that I've bought were obviously test fired but it's been years since I bought anything CVA. I can also tell you that the three Gen 1 rifles did not have any kind of preservative on them. They were dry as a bone. Only the V2 had it.

I can also tell you that EVERY new factory centerfire rifle that I've ever bought was test fired and fouled from the factory.

Bought many new Muzzleloaders and Centerfire Rifles, Never had 1 "Test" Fired over the last 40 years have a couple ML's bought new and they have had some kind of oil / preservative to quick it from picking up moisture sitting on the shelf. Not sure where some come up with this stuff? Own several Shotguns, Rifles and Muzzleloaders and half bought new. Always required some prep and cleaning.
Guess some must have their gun shop test firing a new rifle but then also it would not be "considered" New...

Well, I can tell you this..................... do yourself a favor and call CVA and ask them if each and every NEW rifle they sell have all been test fired. The answer I guarantee you're going to get is................ NO.
Why do I know this.............. Go over to the CVA FB site, which may have been the original Paramount site, and do a search. CVA/BPI answered that EXACT question, and it was.................. NO.

I'll also tell you this too............ Call the manufacturer of the factory rifles you've purchased and ask them the same question............ DO YOU TEST FIRE EVERY NEW PRODUCTION RIFLE BEFORE IT LEAVES THE MANUFACTURER? Guaranteed you'll get the identical answer. NO.

Can you even imagine the MASSIVE EXPENSES a manufacturer would have test firing every rifle they build???
Can you imagine the different number of bullets, let alone the different propellants and primers that would be involved in test firing EVERY new rifle? Muzzleloader or CF.
Its not possible and it doesn't happen. Period.

Yup. I just spent a small fortune on a Browning to shoot clays with. I didn't think I'd ever get that cosmoline crap out of the barrels.

I’ve had new center fire rifles that had obviously been test fired before I got them, but I’ve never seen that with a muzzleloader.
