Will there be any retrofit parts necessary to put the new lid on an old frame? Looks like maybe an open ended female buckle on the frame side where it was just a strap through a ladder lock before. A good picture of that interface may answer the question for me. Thanks.

I think your just going to have to add a buckle to the strap that is currently on the frame.
That was my complaint running without a lid. Was then those straps would flail.

Steve, Is the front pocket on the 4800 also the same stretch material as the 2018 bags? Thanks

I run mine on a kifaru frame so I could cleanly attach it to the lower lifter loop.... so long as I get one of those buckles and it is indeed open ended. I’m guessing open ended because the vids I’ve seen show an empty loop where the buckle may go.

I don't understand how the 4800 only came in 5 oz heavier than the 3200. With the horseshoe main zip, zipper on the front pocket, mesh pockets with zippers sewn into the inside, and the bag being quit a bit bigger, doesn't seem to add up. If the numbers are correct the 4800 almost seems like a no brainer.

Steve, Is the new belt going to be the solid foam type or the mesh? I’d think the foam would start to get a little stinky want sweat build up. Not a big deal for hiking but a deal breaker for hunting. Any thoughts? Thanks

The new belt is stretch fabric on the inside not mesh. They changed that last year. I believe Steve said they did a lot of testing and concluded the mesh in the hip belt didn't help anything but had a slight benefit in the shoulder harness so they kept it there.

Are you really worried about the smell of your hip belt? Seems to me a lot of other things are going to have an odor quicker than your hip belt. Wash your pack once or twice a year and problem solved. I understand everyone has different priorities but I have a hard time seeing how this could really be an issue on a backpack hunt. Playing the wind is much more important as no matter what you do you'll have some odor animals can detect.

I slide the lid straps on the frame down between where the back pads velcro to the frame, and they seem to stay out of the wind

Thanks for all the info and hard work Steve!

I thought I saw a k3 torso length chart based on height but can't find it now. Anyone have a link ?

It’s pre order day. Torn between 3200 and 4800. I only need the size of the 3200 but I really like the horseshoe zipper on the 4800 like the 2000 bag I’ve used so much. I haven’t used the 3500 size before so I’m not sure if the zipper access on the 3200/3500 is that big of an issue vs the horseshoe one. Any thoughts there?

Personally I would go with the 4800 just for the horseshoe Zip, the extra volume is a plus also

Got the new 4800 bag ordered. Looks like they pushed the shipping date back to July 15th-26th... Kind of a big window so hopefully they're not guessing/hoping at this point. If everything is made in America like they claim, what could possibly be taking so long?

According to the website, the K3 lid is not compatible with the K2 frame.
