I just got this back from the gunsmith, hope to shoot it some this weekend. Two stocks, the original walnut and a High Tech Specialties stock. With the HT stock it goes just over 7 lbs. unscoped. Brux #3 SS 24" barrel, Kimber 8400action, all cerakoted matte black:

Nice, I recently sent my Kimber Montant in .308 down to Kevin to put it on a diet. He does great work for sure!!

That should be a sweet rifle for sure.

Interesting Luke, what are you having done? I've got a Montana in 7-08 that's one of my favorites, I'd be interested in hearing how much weight can be trimmed.

Well I went from 5 pounds 2 oz to 4 pounds 12 oz, all up I should be right at 5.5 pounds with scope and rings.

What did you have done besides the aluminum triggergaurd? My Montana is at Proof Research (Formerly Lone Wolf) right now getting a new stock that should cut around 13oz off.

Looks even better with the scope mounted. I shot it this weekend, with new brass it put 8 162 Amax's into an inch at about 3,100 fps so that was encouraging:

Wow, almost a pound off the weight of a Montana stock, I'd be interested in hearing more about their stocks and how they make 'em so light.

Love that caliber choice as well. If I hadn't been all set up for my 7 mag already with the honady competition die sets and all my brass I would have liked to go with that mashburn.

Yup, I've heard that you can get up near 3,200 with 160's, but haven't had a chance to test that yet, that's 7mm Weatherby territory.

I went with a smith that has been refining his 7 Rem mag reamer and has it just right now, he is promising 3000-3050 with 180 bergers. I'll get it next month so I'll guess we will see. I think with a long throat you can easily get the 3200 out of that caliber with the 168 berger even, that amax is sure nice though, If they sold those in bulk lots like berger I would look harder at them.
