Funny, cause they claimed the old bags would be compatible with the new frame prior to the GLF release. Such a joke. I think they'll have quite a few unhappy customers that were originally just looking to upgrade the frame but keep their bags. Glad I dumped all my MR gear when I did.

I am torn at buying a selloff Nice tframe Marshall or the glf Marshall. Anyone have theirs yet? Other then a bit of weight savings and a few extra straps what is the big advantage of the new system?

When I talked to MR a couple of weeks ago regarding just buying a Pintler bag, they told me that I would have to buy the whole system. However, they also said the bags were interchangeable and I would just have to decide which frame I liked best and sell the other. I did buy a used Longbow bag instead, so I have no need to try that theory out, but I imagine there would be few problems using the new bags on the old frames and vice versa. At worst, I imagine you would only need to swap out buckles for the top load straps and and lower bag strap 3 bar slider. I didn't ask about the belts though.

Sorry, I was a pretty big MR fan, the dragons layer is probably my favorite bag of all time. But that is some absolute BS that the bags and frames don't interchange... I mean that is an absolute joke. I wonder if it's a ploy for them so people don't want to buy just the bags..

I'm not really that concerned about whether the old bags fit the newer frame...but it would be a benefit if they did. From the standpoint of redesign and making an entirely new, lighter frame and packs I can understand why the old doesn't mesh perfectly with the new. It's the same with many things when manufacturers redesign and change models.

Unless these new frames are wider or a lot thinner, which i doubt they are I cant see how they wouldnt fit. On the backside of the frame where the load shelf attaches, on this new frame I see a 3 bar slider. the old one has a male/female buckle. Be easy to cut that 3 bar slider off and put a female buckle with the open ends (like the ones kifaru uses)

I'll be doing a blog post on the BlackOvis Community here in a few weeks, but here are some pics of the frame. The weight difference is pretty astounding We also have pictures and info on the 2016 packs here: http://www.blackovis.com/brands/mystery-ranch They won't be in stock until the middle of May though.

Also it does look like the new frame does use quite a bit thinner carbon rods then the NICE, I wonder how much more flex there is.

Sorry for the negative post, but MR has really been bothering me with its business practices ever since the new frames were going to become a reality. The easy fix to this problem is to support a company that doesn't sell its customers down the river. To be fair I have two MR bags and a buddy that works there. I love my old CC but they have screwed their customers over and I will likely not be supporting them in the future. I bought a Kifaru recently and find that so far it is more comfortable, more modular, and the bags are of better design for backpacking purposes (although the crew cab is going to be tough to beat for a daypack/meat hauler). Kifaru is more expensive, but MR has IMO become the next jackhole, pretentious Bozeman, too good for its customers company which I won't support, unless of course they come out with something that blows the competition out of the water. This new system is definitely not it.

I understand the disappointment but the MR bashing is uncalled for. Not every company can make the necessary improvements on their systems and remain backwards compatible and it's unfair to hold them to that forever. Hell some other companies out there change systems frequently with no regard for compatibility or product quality and still market themselves as top tier. I'm a kifaru guy but MR has always seemed a stand up company with a solid product to me.

No doubt MR has a a great product. BUT they quit selling packs separate from frames LONG before they announced the new frame to the public. Isn't the interchangeable nature of packs/frame a big selling point? What about CUSTOMERS who purchased a pack banking on that ability? Ask yourself; Why did they choose to do this? Who was the big loser in this decision?

Second, the frame from what I have seen isn't that much different ( I have handled only prototypes of the new frame). Why could they not make the new frame fully compatible with older packs? I sure feel like I could and would have (feel free to have go at that claim).

Anyway, no biggie, sorry to come off as a hater. A MR pack is bomber, and I'm sure the new ones are every bit as good as the old ones, if not better. I just think it is a bummer how MR went about the change and am sad to have my opinion about a hometown company do a 180 degree swing. And the last statement in my previous post was uncalled for, I apologize.

Gumbo , don't apologize for the truth. MR put the screws to their long time customers while making the switch to an import marketing company. There's vague promises second hand from surrogates that they sometime in the future are going to sell frames and bags separate again and maybe the old bags will fit new frames if you apply a presidential solution. Oh , and hang out and wait for theses super new Asian sweatshop bags that will be fresh off the boat soon....

I wasn't referring to you specifically gumbo, just the bashing in general.

Shrek why does it matter to you? Everything in your pack is not from the good old U.S. of A. now is it?
