We are in the process of changing the public draw. The majority of New Mexico hunters are in agreement that the outfitter set aside of 10% of the tags should be eliminated. To allocate more tags to residents and non-residents alike, we are suggesting that 90% of the tags go to residents and 10% of the tags be allocated to non-residents. New Mexico has a four year cycle to review all big game rules. We are currently in the review year so we can get this done with the support of our Attorney General and state legislature. Our primaries are in June so it is imperative that we contact our state legislators now. If you are a New Mexico resident hunter please contact your local state representative and senator.

I personally do not agree with those groups lock, stock and barrel but this is one time that those groups align with our best interests. Hunters dissing other hunters is exactly what Wildlife for All and Center for Biological Diversity want in this state. Having 80% of resident hunters not out there hunting is just another step up in thier agenda.

Let’s not try to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes here. The 10% outfitter pool is almost completely utilized by nonresident applicants. If/when that goes away, the net result will be less tags allocated to non-residents yearly, and more for residents. It will also most likely have the effect of reducing (not improving) draw odds in the non-resident pool despite the move to 10%.

I don’t mind NM residents pursuing more tags for themselves. I do mind when they knowingly try to deceive non-residents into believing this would be good for them too.

There is no deception here. That’s ludicrous. Almost all of the private land tags go to non-residents that includes unit wide LO tags. People like you put in for the public draw just for luck. Then when you don’t draw you buy a hunt from an outfitter or a hunt club. I would be willing to bet that most non-residents would rather have better odds to draw a DIY tag and then if they do draw a tag, decide if they want to book a guide or not.

Just so everyone is clear.

Residents and Non Residents can apply in the outfitter draw. Trying to say getting rid of them will help odds for anyone is ridiculous. Those same people will just be now in the regular draw.

Also Non Residents and Residents have the same opportunity to purchase a LO tag. Also they can build relationships to help secure one as many have. Also noting that many of these tags go unused every year.

This is many years of you with the same non sense. Old podcasts, made up stats, saying you represent New Mexico hunters, then saying your non affiliated with anyone, not answering basic questions.
