Nephew wants to go on his dream hunt for elk. Would like to have a good hunt and lets just use a solid "300 class bull" as his goal. Money isn't unlimited so lets say $8,000.00 to 10,000.00 for a budget. I have been looking all over and there are many options. Looking for firm references from those who have been there and done it. Thanks.

PS: Any other states or guides recommended are welcome as well.

I hunted 2019 with Keith Williams. He runs Arizona Pro Elk hunts and Southwest Biggame brokerage. He has landowner tags and puts on a good hunt. The bull in my avatar was killed on that hunt. Saw several 300ish type bulls and two that would break the 350 mark. Its a good hunt and was what he advertised it as.

It was on private land. The tags we had were ranch specific private land only. Now if you are asking was it a " ranch" hunt as in a pen hunt in Chama then absolutely not. I could stay in Georgia and shoot livestock a lot cheaper.
Yes I meant private land can I ask how much, and when u booked with Keith did he say there would be good bulls on it? And see them ? Bc u know how some private is may not see nothing

avoid BMO in my opinion. have a couple different friends that have hunted with them the last few years and they won't be going back. The opinion from them and others that know the outfit is they have over harvested and not what they used to be. When a few different people I know or have talked to that don't know each other say the same thing and also say that they were surprised at how many small bulls were harvest by clients that they saw...I tend to believe it.

H&A Outfitters out of Sante Fe, Andy and his team are very knowledgeable and professional , I already applied with them for this upcoming season!

LOH Outfitters. Great outfit, great staff from the owner Jerry, to all the guides to the lodge and the home cooked meals. My father and I have been hunting with them for years and have been on multiple 290-380+ size bulls every hunt.

Probably way out of your budget, but Gila & Apache outfitters are likely one of the best there is in New Mexico. They hunt the Gila and its nearly impossible to get a tag. But if you draw, thats the place to go.

I hunted the GILA. Yes big bulls are in there, but the success rate is low. I got skunked. Saw 1 bull from the road, and none in the woods. We saw a few cows, 1 doe mulie, 1 wolf. and that's about it. We saw 3 harvested bulls at various camps. Hunted hard 5 days.

I’ll second Desert Meadow Outfitters. Justin is top notch. DMO hunts hard and produces quality animals. I hunt in 2019 with them and had a great time

Contact Ryan Nogosek of A3 Trophy Hunts. I have been elk hunting since 1995 and can say these guys grind it out.

I have been fortunate to spend 3 of the past 4 years hunting with them either by myself drawing a tag or a friend. Great hunt and they know those units incredibly well.

The Gila aint no gimme hunt. But if hunting with an outfitter, I'd say chances are pretty good you're going home with some bone
