After being a long time lurker I finally decided to join the conversation. This will be my first year going for archery elk and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before the opener.

Where in Idaho are you located?
I just moved to Idaho Falls in early December, getting into Archery as well.

I am in Rathdrum, so a few hours north of you. We've been meaning to make a trip down that way to explore the country there, just haven't had the time.

Oh ok, I see.
Yeah we make small trips almost every weekend to check out the area around us and finding hunting spots. Met a guy, he's on here too, who has helped me with finding a bow and setting it up. We went shed hunting a few weeks ago too.
Sure is lots of country here!

Yes, it would be nice to hunt an area that is a little more open than up here for a change. All my experience has been in the thick Western Washington stuff, or up north here where it is just as thick, but as wet.
