Hi All,

Not new to the great outdoors but new hunting. Born and raised in CO and love to be in the woods/mountains. After speaking with a great friend about his archery elk hunting experiences, I decided to dive in head first. Over the last decade I have felt unfulfilled with the lack of adventure in my life that I had become used to prior to having kids and getting bogged down with a career.

At the end of last year I bought a bow with zero experience shooting one and have been shooting almost every day since December. It's been great learning a new skill and working towards an end goal. I spend as much spare time as a I can listening to pod casts, reading, watching videos, and preparing for an archery hunt in CO (entered the draw, pending GMU).

I'm looking forward to this learning more from this community and becoming an educated, prepared, and contributing member of the hunting/archery community.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new CO member.

Having lived in Boulder County for a long time I'll say that not everyone is a wolf loving granola eater. Some of the craziest gun-nut rednecks I've ever met live in the hills 20 minutes from downtown Boulder. Their homes are all worth 1.5 million now but by God they are still hillbillies at heart.

We are still gonna need an answer on that wolf vote though...😅

Haha you probably should have said you’re from Longmont or Erie, or even better CO Springs. Personally I’m a big Boulder fan, we travel there every summer…

I'm in Longmont, don't care how you voted, and rifle hunt. Kids definitely slow down the extreme adventures, don't they? Happy to connect sometime.

Welcome! Read, listen, practice, and find any excuse to get outdoors. Many answers to questions you will have are out there, but some are not. Use this forum to find those answers and improve more quickly than you otherwise would. Good luck!

Welcome! I'll be getting out turkey hunting in your area a bunch the next month, let me know if that's something you're into.

You're talking about the guy from that mountain man reality show right? I have never met him but a guy I used to work that actually lived in Ward knew him well.

My favorite Ward story was of the local guy that held an annual boxing match in the middle of "town" where he would give prizes to anyone that could beat him. Rumor is that some MMA guys got wind of this challenge and issued him a real beating one year so he quit doing it. Only in Ward.
