New lightweight axe

Looks neat... I've been contemplating something like this for my next trip to CO now that I have a pack mule. Thanks for sharing man!

Looks pretty cool. Interested to see if hand tightening the clamp keeps things in place. Never seen an axe multi-tool. I do like that its so flat.

Even the basic one that para-cord is wrapped to connect the ax head to the handle seems like a good idea. I like the simple approach of it. Looks like they should be order-able soon.

The attachment point for the handle looks weak. I would be concerned this would fail with heavy use and fail over time with moderate use. Maybe you should consider a metal handle. Can't wait to hear how it performs!

Can't go wrong with a Gransforsbruk's ax....I've been using them for years and they're top of the line.

For about half the price of a granforsbruks you can pick up a huskvarna--made in the same factory with the same steel with the same smithing process, but a little less polished. I have used both and they're pretty much exactly the same quality.

Please tell us your source for this information. I'm aware of several companies that have made axes and hatchets for Husqvarna over the years, and GB is definitely not one of them...

Scott

Wetterling does Huskevarna…. which is pretty much across the street from GB….and owned by GB. The manufacture process is the same.

I prefer to baton with a quality steel 6-7" fixed blade knife. Lighter, safer, less effort, and a more versatile tool IMHO.
