I'm glad to see Leica putting out new and advanced products for hunters. My Geovid Pro binos and CRF Pro are both excellent. One thing I really like about the Pro models is having a simplified display for archery. Instantly you get EHR with nothing else on the screen.

I know that the new ballistic rangefinders (Revic Gen 2, Sig Gen 2, this CRF Max) are starting to put a lot of information on the screen at once rather than cycling data. I shoot a bit of long range and see these advantages to this type of display. But I hope with the new micro LED displays, users will be able to customize based on the data they need. That way when I MPBR hunt or archery hunt, I can still buy premium glass rangefinders but with a simple EHR display.

As I typed that last paragraph, I saw the HUD customization screenshots. This is a great decision from Leica!

Yes, it's fully customizable within the app, allowing you to simplify the screen to just the range.

You're going to put this in a Geovid Pro 10x42 and cost me a lot of money, aren't you @Leica ? The display of the Vectronix/Sig G2 is all that they have over the Revics. The Revics have the laser performance over Leica. Give me this display, that laser speed, Leica glass...yes please

@Leica does this provides ballistic solutions at all ranges or does it require an upgrade?

1. Laser Rangefinder Performance (Hardware)

Each Leica device has its own rangefinding hardware with maximum ranging distances:

  • CRF Max → up to 3,500 yards
  • Geovid Pro 32 → up to 2,500 yards
  • Geovid Pro 42 AB+ → up to 3,200 yards
These numbers are independent of Ultralight vs. Elite. Whether your device runs the basic solver or Elite, the laser itself determines how far you can range.

2. Ballistics App / Solver (Software)

  • Ultralight (basic tier) → still gets the full laser ranging distance of your device, but it can only calculate dope out to 800 yards. Past that, you’ll still see the range, but no ballistic correction.
  • Elite (AB+ / CRF Max) → solver calculates all the way out to the device’s maximum range. If your laser hits 3,200 yards, the solver can compute for 3,200 yards.
  • The CRF Max and AB+ are the only ones with Shot Probability / WEZ, so if you do not have these devices (hardware), you cannot upgrade to having this feature or make it available on the device.
Additional info:

The Leica Ballistics App is the brains that holds your rifle and ammo profiles. You set up:
  • Bullet type (BC / custom drag curve if Elite)
  • Muzzle velocity (chronograph or estimated)
  • Sight height, zero distance, twist rate, etc.
  • Environmental factors (temp, pressure, altitude, humidity)
The app then synchronizes these profiles into your Leica rangefinder (Geovid Pro, Geovid AB+, or CRF Max). Once loaded, the device can run the ballistic solver internally without needing your phone in the field.
  • Ultralight (basic AB solver)
    • Limited to G1/G7 BC curves, fewer bullet profiles.
    • Calculates basic elevation and wind corrections.
    • Enough for hunters who want a quick drop number out to moderate distances.
  • Elite (complete AB Elite solver)
    • Full Doppler-verified bullet library (thousands of projectiles).
    • Uses custom drag models instead of just generic BCs.
    • Unlocks Weapon Employment Zone (WEZ) analysis → shows probability of first-round hit based on your setup.
    • Supports long-range precision (PRS/NRL, ELR shooting, military applications)
The rangefinder is the sensor that feeds live data into the ballistic engine:
  • Range (distance to target)
  • Angle (for slope-corrected shooting)
  • Compass/azimuth (for Coriolis or spin drift calculations when enabled)
  • Temperature & pressure sensors (barometer + thermometer in the device)

All of this data gets combined with your rifle/ammo profile, and the onboard solver instantly spits out the correction (in MILs/MOA or clicks).
