New Kimber Mountain Ascent 799 bucks

I’ve been watching this since day one. But haven’t pulled the trigger yet with a wedding next year and two Trips on the docket for this year. Now I’m wondering if I should try and grab one for my 7 year old. For those that have them. Can I cut down the stock to a manageable size for a 7 year old?

Bro, think of this as “Fieldcraft 2.0” and it should assuage all doubt.

Picked up my 6.5 Creed from the local shop today.

Initial impressions are that it feels heavy for a Kimber and the bolt handle is sharp AF where it is fluted.

Stock feels way better than it looks.

Gonna pull it apart and give it a once over, then see how it shoots with factory Berger 140gr EH.

I went with the warne 2 piece rail. According to their specs it’s 1.2oz, lighter than aluminum full rail options. Warne is having a 20% off sale now too.

Finally got notification for my 2nd PSA rifle shipping (243 green speckled) and when surfing Cabelas I found another green speckled in 6.5 where I was allowed to stack some coupons to make it a great deal. I think I'm done for a while. H6Xi 2-12s will be going on both of the 6.5s and a Fullfield 3-12 will be going on the 243.

I keep hearing guys rant n rave about those H6Xi 2-12s...

I have a couple 3-18s on bigger rifles and love them. I'm still very much a quick and dirty BDC guy for shots to 400-500yds, and I find the MHR reticle is perfect for that across a pretty decent spectrum of calibers I shoot. I'm waiting on my mounts to arrive on Monday to get the 2-12s put on and take them to the range. I think these HS stock setups will end up settling in around a really nice shooting weight, but still not heavy. On the flipside, I also found a Moutain Ascent Optifade stock setup that the 243 will be going in, along with that Burris 3-12. Should be ridiculously lightweight and capable as long as I can shoot it well.
