NEW Kifaru 22 Mag!

So, in dumb redneck...

The bag is secured to the top of the frame with 2 k clips and then sort of hooks over the top. Lift to unhook and you have access to the load sling.

That what I'm seeing here?

Yes, basically. I’ll do a video. The bag attaches to the frame like any other Kifaru bag, it just has a load sling instead of a shelf

compared to my 22-Mag 2nd Gen pack...
i like the redesign of the pack straps. Being able to unzip pack without unbuckling cross straps.
that extra pocket sleeve in back, not a fan. Unless it's closeable, stuff can fall out.

sticking with mine & lite duplex frame, served me well for many years.

attached image from 2019. Hiking around the neighborhood with 1/2 pack load (9-lbs).
Have water bottle pocket one side, accessory pouch & holster on other side of hip belt , 2 large zip storage pockets attached external.
2 attached images from 2021: filled my spike bull elk tag, packing out meat & spike bull head. Used an external Kifaru saddle load sling, similar to the new ARC Load Sling of today. See bull spikes pointing down, underneath sling/pack.

Yeah the sleeve is more so for trekking pole and tripod legs, not really for loose gear. The gen 1 will serve you well

Next bigger change was the load shelf setup. I originally requested a system that worked like the Stryker, but this is system is easy and when not in use the top of the bag is tight to the frame which I like. This is a sling that always stays attached to the frame and I believe it captures a load better. My gen 1 didn’t even have a shelf, you just relied on compression and the bottom straps to secure the load. Which worked fine until the load was awkward and uneven like it can be with loose meat.

I have a question regarding the loading shelf and bag attachment being over the stays. Seems like that would be impossible to do when carrying a boned elk quarter or something longer? How are you attaching the bag up top when using the loading shelf?

I have used the straight jacket and have loved the loading shelf when packing out animals. As such I've had my eye on getting the stryker XL or hellbender. The 22 mag intrigues if the loading shelf is similar.

I like the improved meat shelf design. Not enough to sell my Hellbender. I have my hellbender fitted out to perfectly carry all my stuff. I eliminated some of the compression straps by using some lock gate buckles.

Looks great though. I traded my MaDeuce for a 44mag and my Manimal for a Hellbender. But the gen1 22mag was running neck and neck with the hellbender.
