I'll add to this, agreed this would be really useful information. In addition the nearest USFS office and/or contact info in case needed. This would have helped me this past weekend (granted they are closed on the weekend, but still.)

Man the amount of 'why bother' in this one is surprising...good on you OP for doing something about a problem you have and fixing it yourself. Ask for suggestions and get keyboard warrior'ed to death...

Any app that would reduce the numbers of hunters in the field will be an immediate success. Don't bring more in , find a way to purge the knuckleheads, and long range narcissists.

I have thought about trying to develop an app to make people like golfing and tailgating.

As hunters perhaps we should be slipping a few bucks to the state football program marketing teams.

I went to college in a place with a huge hunting culture but also an even bigger football culture. I had a lot of good days hunting on public land when the rest of the county seemed to all be at the football stadium.

edited, maybe toxicity was a bit strong but the first page or so just read like 'why bother', 'this is the problem', etc. instead of providing any useful feedback like OP asked for

I'm not disagreeing that tech should not replace basic knowledge and skills, but it's clear that OP is putting a lot of work into it and trying to make it into something useful. and it takes balls to solicit public feedback, especially on the internet, was just surprised by the answers, that's all.

Come to a trailhead in Sept, Oct, Nov, in Colorado, it could not be any easier at this day and age to get into hunting and it shows

For the app, I'll add, make sure whatever data you have works and can be loaded with no signal/in airplane mode.

Where did I say the app was for sale. It’s for hunters by hunters for an informative tool, not a cash grab. It’s literally $0.00. How am I monetizing it? I’m taking a 13 year old out moose hunting. Never been hunting in his life. He has the beta version of his map installed on his phone. He’s been reading it and playing with the app and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Now he’s even more stoked to go hunting and has a general idea of what to expect and do in situations. That is why I’m making it. Not to line my pockets.

This is Rokslide, those are absolutely adequate calibers for moose and all other big game in North America. You didn’t mention much about bullet choice so wondering if that will be included in the app? Remember bullets matter, head stamps don’t.

Wait this is Rokslide? Dang it! I thought I was posting on Christian Mingle. Im not mentioning much about bullet drop because it’s still not out yet. I’m not showing the whole app. Maybe there are more calibers in the app, maybe there aren’t. If you dislike this idea so much, go ahead and scroll on past it in the App Store. It wont bother me, trust me.
