Everything I can get my hands on here! White tail (archery/rifle) , waterfowl (geese, puddle and sea duck), turkey, coyote. Started looking into a strategy to start putting in for western state tags but I feel I have a ton of research to do.

I am incredibly ignorant, so forgive me. What is it like being an avid hunter from Long Island?? What started you in the sport? Do you get a lot of flak from your social circle? I can imagine all the things I take for granted, like sighting in my rifle when I want to where I want, or hanging a deer in my front yard while I butcher it, or purchasing sporting goods/hunting/shooting supplies and having them shipped to me, are probably hardships to you. Thank you for keeping the sport and lifestyle alive where you are.

There's public and private land(clubs) for hunting in NY. Target shooting can be done at a public or private (clubs) range. If you own a large parcel of land (upstate) you can shoot on your property.
My neighbors are hunters too, so no issue with butchering a deer on my property. Hunting/ shooting supplies are shipped to the house.
But there are more gun collectors/target shooters than "hunters" around here (LI).

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.

There’s definitely more hunting opportunities than you would expect here. Can’t rifle hunt on the island, decent waterfowl hunting, upstate isn’t a terrible drive. Having said that, I’m looking forward to moving west when I’m done with work.
