Been lurking for a long time, finally decided to make a post. I live in Alabama and I’ve got the bug to go out west. That led me here and I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed all the information on this forum. As a treestand hunter, the lightweight discussions have really peaked my interest.

Glad to have you come out of the lurk!
Great place here. Lots of great info.
Be very careful about heading west. It's extremely addicting!

Worse than hunting in general although I'm heading to your great state in January for whitetail.

Alabama public land? Depending on what area you are going the action could be real hot. There are some great maps that show the Alabama ruts( we have several) and they are pretty accurate. I’m in the north west corner, ours hits between Christmas and the 15th of January.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new AL member.

Headed to the central west area of Alabama around the first of the year. Been there before. If the rut is on it's amazing.

Welcome. I grew up in Tuscaloosa, lived out west for 15 years and now in VA. I grew up hunting Pickens and Perry County.

I lived in Tuscaloosa for 3 years while in college. Did a lot of hunting down around Livingston while I was there. A lot of good hunting down that way.

What county you hunting?

Good hunting around Gordo. I don't hunt far from there when I go home. I try to get home once a year to hunt for a few weeks.
