Hello folks, I moved to AK 40 some years ago. I have hunted and fished my entire life. AK was home right off.
Along the way we staked 20 acres of remote land and built a log cabin. Summer is fly out, 185 on floats. Then 2 mile hike north.
This is my happy place. I will get dropped off. When the plane lifts, I'm all by myself. Me and wild AK. Mt Denali and the AK range are just in front of me. Talkeetna mts to my right.
Spend some great times there, son's first moose. 58" non typical. I called him in. Just spending time there I learn. I'm trying blessed to be able to do this. And hopefully I can share some stories.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.

P.S. AK's appeal has always been there for me, but with how our country has been going over the past 3 or 4 years, the pull is getting stronger and stronger. Good on ya for finding your happy place in AK!

Welcome, I've been here most of my life and couldn't live anywhere else. Sold my remote land a few years ago. Staked it in the early 70s.

The outdoors is just a place that seems to draw me. And I enjoy being drawn. Always knew I'd get oller and still want to be able to get out in the bush. And beautiful wife n me wanted something for our family. To always have a little slice of heaven to me.
Lots of wolves, moose lynx n such. And going out n sitting next to a small pond, moms pond, in a blind. Stay till after dark n watch the outdoors awake. This little pond is a meeting place it seems.
Or spending a few weeks with a pretty lady out in a remote log cabin is kinda nice tooooo

Sounds amazing, I’ve been in AK for about 3 years and never want to leave!

Hello all, newbie from western colorado,

still working out DIY details for my first alaska hunt after 50 years on my bucket this september 2023 . Hunting moose in 16 a in the Talkeetna area, mainly using a smaller boat via the creeks. looking around petersville rd and moose creek and also oil field rd to start. also the end of petersville road and winter creek

does anyone have any insight or information for this area by chance or do i need to start a fresh thread here . I don't have any experience with these forums as well.
