New gear prices!

I love gear...or following gear to see the new technologies (same with trucks!). However, I have begun to find it comical with the new items from brands such as Kuiu and Sitka, specifically the cost. For example, Kuiu with the Artuk parka for $1299! I know that they need to continually come out with new items to keep up and keep buyer interest and I understand the value of being warm and dry, but geez that's a lot of money.

There are some folks that consider that pocket change. It's all relative. Somebody will buy them.

I had to look it up. That’s pricey, but they literally advertise it for the arctic. The one review is a product testing outfitter in Canada who describes -50 temps. Doesn’t seem intended for the lower 48, so their target demographic isn’t for the vast majority of hunters anyway. To me, that’s like looking at f150 technology and then commenting how expensive a ford GT is 🤣

It doesn't matter what activity you are talking about, golf, cycling, hunting or fishing, lots of people are only happy when they have the most expensive gear money can buy. Its all about the brand and making sure the logo stands out so all can see. The manufacturers love these people.

Just took a look at Kuiu’s web page for the Artuk parka. It’s certainly an impressive piece of gear.

But the question I would have is how do you really differentiate amongst their cold weather jackets? They all seem to merge into “it’s cold as heck so I’ll just buy the most I can afford”

If you think everything is expensive now, just wait. Prices have jumped 15-35% since the tariffs went into effect and it's just getting started...again. Biden inflation and now Trump inflation. You just can't win.

I just picked one up for my polar bear hunt

Theres plenty of great gear that works very well not ridiculously priced. And then there are sales.
I don't concern myself with others pay for their gear. It doesn't affect me in anyway. Like wise I don't care for anyone telling me I am crazy for paying $2,000 for a rifle set up, $2800 for binos or $300 for a pair of boots. Everyone has their priorities and wants. Now if you convince me to pay for your share of the hunting trip expenses as you are a bit short these days and you show up with that $1300 coat , we might have to talk about that……

I agree. Ill never understand these posts. Seems to be a new one every year whining about brands, prices, and so on. I don't care what a man does with his money, don't care if he likes logos etc. If you work hard for your money, can afford it. and aren't hurting anyone, more power to you.
