New FHF FOB bino harness/my thoughts

Little late in responding, but take a look at Exomtn’s mini-reach accessory for their K4 packs. It’s got a molle attachment and sure looks like it’s snug up on one of the FOB side panels.
Catamount made me a custom pouch without a window and it works pretty good for me on the straps. Much better than just the carabiner!

Necessity…the Mom of Invention, and opportunity to adapt! Nice mount for that minireach.

That’s what I’ve always loved about good outdoor gear, it’s the base to get creative. I’m gonna get this FoB because of sheer build quality as a starting point, but can bet I’ll end up DIYing the sh*t out of it to fit my needs.

Idea#1 - add a Kuiu Pro Hydration rig to extend the use into a long day scouting rig with just one harness. The air harness has attachment tabs at the shoulder break that should allow easy attachment of the Kuiu rig clips. I’ll drop pics once I confirm.

considering this harness because the shoulder straps look wide enough to spread out the additional weight of a pistol mounted below the bino pouch. Has anyone tried this and found the harness comfortable?
Also, does anyone know the weight of the FOB pouch, it's not listed on their site.

A few years on now - how are people finding their FOBs? Price aside, how do they compare against eg marsupial, ACG? They look way more adaptable

I have no complaints at all really. It's very comfortable and the pockets in the back and front I've found to be very useful/convenient for your phone and digiscope adapters.

Mine has grown on me and overall I enjoy it. Still not the biggest fan of the padding on the harness that rubs my neck but otherwise no complaints.

I tried changing to another brand I thought I’d like more but went back to the Fob.

Thanks guys. I still read most people recommending marsupial as the number one though, is this because of price and brand popularity or are they a genuinely better product? It seems me FHF is no1 but it doesn't get much air time…

Politically I think many people try and avoid FHF/meateater. The FOB is definitely expensive too though.

Marsupial does have a cult like following, for a good reason. It’s quality gear. I don’t think you hear as much just because it’s simple and it works well.

I have both an FOB and an enclosed Marsupial. The Marsupial is likely a bit more durable because it’s not covered in the thin stretchy material the FOB is.
I have grown to prefer the way the FOB opens and the way the RF pouch mounts directly to the side of the main compartment. I would have no drama buying either again.

Thanks for this. The politics don’t interest me, but durability certainly does. I realise performance and durability are sometimes at odds, but thin and stretchy doesn’t sound ideal. Is this material all over or just covering the top? Do you feel it will wear through before too long? I certainly prefer the layout and design of the FOB.

Also, when I was asking about the Pro-M, FHF mentioned there was a new harness coming out to replace it in two weeks. Anyone know anything about this?

After inspecting again I miss spoke. They both have the same/similar thin stretchy material on the outside. All of the green on the FHF is the material. The Marsupial has very similar coverage with the similar material, just harder to see because it’s all tan. It feels like the marsupial is less stretchy or it was just pulled tighter before sewing.

The main compartment of both is the heavier cordura material.

Using it in the field last year, I found that the magnetic top would get pushed open by my binos when crawling or bending down. I wish there was a way to lock it closed.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up, it was making me seriously reconsider the FOB. All good now

Interesting, I wonder if that’s inherent with all forward opening bino harnesses… I wonder if some sort of strap could be sewn on to lock it?

Ok I’ve finally got FHF gear - both a large FOB for Geovid 3200.coms with wings and pouches, and a small Pro-M for SLCs also with wings and pouches. Haven’t been on any big hunts with them yet but have been using the FOB a bit and loving it so far. Build quality, fit, comfort and usability is very good. The pouches mount so nicely with the wings, which ultimately is what swayed me to FHF away from the competition. So far very happy

Update for those curious, a Marsupial harness will fit right up to the FOB. So far I am liking the fit of their harness better than the big scratchy fob harness.
