Good choice. If anyone is still uncertain.. Aluminum!
30-35 mph winds, measured. It’s noisier than my Niak, due to the thin fly fabric, but it’s more stable from all sides, especially when using trekking pole’s in the sleeves. What sort of weather have you guys all had yours in so far? Any big winds and big rains? I have one but have had pretty mild weather over here when I have had a chance to go out
You've had a couple mountainstars aye? How do you think the X-Dome compares? I have a wapiti hunt in Fiordland (hopefully) next year and unsure whether I should borrow a mountainstar for that trip or use my X-Dome30-35 mph winds, measured. I have had a few Mountain Star’s. They’re both capable 3 season tents. If anything, the X-Dome is a little bit more stable in lateral winds when the trekking pole feature is used. Only reason to use the MS is if you wanted dual vestibules and slightly more interior space at the expense of an additional lb.You've had a couple mountainstars aye? A lightweight tarp is always a good ideaSweet that should save me a couple boxes of beer then! Might even snag a tarp to put over the top of the tent when in the bush cause being Fiordland it is bound to pour down at some point
