OK, I understand. I never tried to stick my phone to the MV adapter on the optic before I installed my steel plate...but I want to make sure we're on the same page.

The magnet on the MV system is on the optic, not the phone. The phone just has a steel plate.

Are you asking if there's enough steel in the phone to stay on the magnet on the optic? I should've said the before. my bad

Yes I suppose that’s the best way of phrasing it. I know the phone itself isn’t magnetic but a magnetic will stick to it / the phone will stick to a strong enough magnet.

My educated guess would be that if there was enough steel in the phone to stick to the magnet, MV, would state that out right in the instructions and they did not. The only option was to put a metal plate on the back of the phone.

Also, I would not feel comfortable out in the rocks with an iPhone that was not in a case.

The metal plate they send you is so thin you don’t even notice it. Got my fingers on mine right now as I typed this lol

I've had the Magview for a few months now so I'd just like to add a few things. I have two S1's and a B1.

The app is nice, but it would be better if you could use it to select different lenses. The centering dot for lining up the phone to the eye piece is very useful.

If you phone camera app has a "pro mode" like my S24 Ultra, you can lock the lens within the phone app itself and forego the magview app. You can lock the orientation by the drag down menu from the top as well. You can add grid lines like on the magview app. The only thing its missing is the centering dot.

There seems to be a glitch in the app where if you have it open then go to a different app and come back the screen goes black and you have to close the app down and restart it for it to work again.

Eye relief can be a major issue with them (as it is with most digiscoping adapters I assume). I had to remove the B1 from my Vortex 15x56 as it was giving me too much of a tunnel feel with it on. On the S1's I just removed the eye relief spacers all together and am fine (Athlon Scopes).

Using a Bluetooth remote to take pictures with is the way to go so you do not introduce any blur in the photo.

If you have a large heavy phone like the S24 Ultra with a bunch of cameras on it plate placement can be kind of finicky and the phone does still want to move, more specifically with the B1 vs the S1. Large heavy phones also make it hard to adjust the eye piece to keep the image straight if using an angled scope and rotating the barrel.

Overall I'm quite happy with the S1 so far and will continue to use it throughout 2025 as all the other options dont seem to be as sleek, albeit some of the others seem easier for alignment.

Taken with an Athlon Cronus G2 UHD 20-60x86 at 60x with 0-10x zoom on the phone through the magview app at approximately 1-1/4 miles without using the Bluetooth camera trigger on a car window mount.
