The United States is not a christian country. It hurts some peoples feelings but its true nonetheless.
You can lead this any direction you want but facts remain. Roughly 65% of all Americans identify themselves as Christian. Our founders were predominately religious with the majority Christian. Much of what they wrote about included God, to the point of possibly being found un-Constitutional by todays courts when applied to law making and teachings in government schools.

New dead sea scrolls have recently been found and are in the process of being organized by text.

I did not write this, but an anonymous commenter did and I thought it was dead on.

"2000 years from now historical writings might be found in a cave in the Grand Canyon titled The Late Great United States Of America. The preface may read something like this; A once great nation voted into power a political party that took total control over its people. In doing so, the people of this once great land gave up their individual freedoms and liberties. Corruption became a standard for political agenda. The borders were open to illegals many of which were criminals and many came with diseases. Sanctuary cities harbored criminals and many prisoners were released into the streets to commit more crimes. Violent riots were in full view in many poorly run cities were destruction and death followed and the police were told to stand down. The Justice Department could no longer be trusted. Babies were murdered and thousands of nursing home patients were exposed to a virus and let die when it could have been avoided. Freedom of speech was denied by those that wanted to silence anyone that did not conform to a one party ideology. The news networks no longer investigated and reported factual news but became a voice for propaganda to support the political agenda of one party. The majority was under total control by the minority and the majority did nothing to stop it. Trillions of tax payers dollars were wasted on non essential items. Taxes, fuel, energy cost and essential cost of living increased to unsustainable levels. Special interest groups, lobbyists, donors and media giants controlled the political party and was only interested in power, self enrichment and total control. A foreign adversary from the east became the new super power during these times and exerted their will on the rest of the world. The principles of the founding fathers were under constant attack with the goals of ending democracy and capitalism to be replaced with socialism and a totalitarian state. The citizens could have demanded change and used the power of their vote but felt powerless and watched their great nation decline. A great nation founded as one nation under God lost its way and lost its greatness."
I read the article and didn't take all that from it.

Saying the US is a Christian country and that should dictate the policy decisions and direction of this country is against everything the country was founded upon period, end of discussion. Just because a majority of hunters are patriotic Christians doesn’t mean that’s what the country is or should be. Not that I don’t think it would be better for it.. And I say that as a Catholic covert Lutheran to no longer belonging or believing in anything besides the serenity and spirituality of the mountains, religions are the biggest scam ever created. But I believe in everything Christianity instills in people even though people interpret it interestingly nowadays.

Seeing this written like this, is so scary.

90 percent of the voters cannot see the huge buck, but they all believe there own bull shit and think the moose they are about to shoot is a white tail. You guys have fun with that "monster white tail."
Why does it have to be a white tail? Can it not be a black tail for once. And about the bull chit? You know cow chit matters to. And for the last time it always has to be a huge buck. Why not a huge doe or a buck that wants to be a doe? I'm just saying.........

It hurts some peoples feelings that the founding Fathers were Christian.
Just eats them up inside.

In all fairness they were "Christians" that believed owning other people was supported by the Bible, that women shouldn't vote, and that "all men are created equal" really only applied to white men as black slaves were property and not people. . . So I could see where it hurts some peoples feelings.

Amazing document, and amazing founders, but like all things infallibility is impossible to obtain (sans one) and thus people should be taken with a grain of salt. Christian or not they believed in a freedom to chose your beliefs thus making certain that Christianity (or any other religion) was not forced upon the people of this great nation!

Because, I hunt black tail deer, so I prefer to believe black tail hunters are superior beings who never make mistakes and can thread a 22 long rifle Creedmoor through a half inch hole at 1,000,000,000 yards without messing up their manbun or manicure all while taking a selfie. They kill the deer out of kindness, but are all vegan....

Yep.

Ha! If you believe this you need to diversify your information sources and do a bit more home work on the history of the country in which you reside. Revisionist history pushed by religious radicals.

This country was founded on religious freedom which includes freedom FROM religion. "one nation under god" wasn't even in our pledge of allegiance until 1954. "Christian America" is an invention.

Why do threads like this exist in a hunting forum? Plenty of political sites out there to post this nonsense on.

And yes, I'm pro-America, pre-democracy, and pro-hunting... and anti-whiner.
Separation of church and State just means the State will have no official religion or denomination of any religion. Secularists have bastardized the original intent and have tried to push religion completely out of the public square, which was not the intent.

The founders knew the country wasn’t living up to the ideals they set forth at the founding, but knew they’d never have a union if they tried to ban slavery and give women the right to vote right out of the gate as those ideas were extremely progressive at the time and not the prevailing values of the day anywhere on the planet. It was a grand idea to strive for, set in motion by the bill of rights and the constitution and the union of states which made the founding of this nation. People have such a one-dimensional view of history, especially American history lately as Marxists are trying to metaphorically and literally topple our history. Judging people of the past by the standards of today is one of the most intellectually lazy and ignorant trend of today’s useful idiots.

Irrespective of your faith journey, your first statement in regards to what should dictate policy and the preceding philosophical founding of this county is simply wrong. You may not like it, and I support your God-given right to not like it, but your are historically wrong. Declaring by fiat, “end of discussion” does not simply make your point any more than doing so after labeling a three sided object a square.

I would agree with it being lazy to judge the people of the past by the standards of today, but being that it took until the 1960s for "equality", I would say it is also equally lazy to credit the founders with this "grand vision" because they didn't have it. In your version of things the least they could have done was not own people personally! However they did own people, which pretty much shows you that the constitution didn't apply to all PEOPLE!

If we don't want revisionist history then let's not revise either way. They were incredibly smart men that gave us a document that was fortunately worded to only need 27 amendments so far! That's amazing, but they were also thought black people were property and women weren't smart enough to vote. Sure that was part of the times, but I think we can all agree that slavery is abhorrent regardless of the time or place in history, especially in a brand new world where you (looking at you rich white men) are writing the rules!

As I've said, amazing visionaries that gave us the constitution, but don't over credit them, they were people of the times and they didn't view slaves as people!

We have what has been and what can be the shinning city on the hill for the rest of the world, but if you believe that we have been a moral beacon to the world, with our upstanding Christian beliefs throughout our history, you are revising history to fit your narrative. The United States is AMAZING and is currently the defenders of freedom, but take off the rose colored glasses and examine our history, we have had plenty of times where we haven't led the world in areas we really should have been leading!
