I am looking to have a new custom rifle built. Background on the needs and use of this rifle. I live and hunt the mountains of Wyoming. I mainly hunt antelope, deer, and elk. Shots for these range from 100 yards all the way out to 700 yards. I currently have a 7 prc that is my main hunting rifle. This rifle I would like to stick below 7mm, was thinking in the range of a 6mm and also not opposed to wildcat cartridges as I reload as well. This gun would mainly be for deer and antelope for cartridge size. Below are build thoughts but open to any and all suggestions.

Cartridge: Initial thoughts; 7ss or 6 creedmor
Stock: I want to stick to a chassis style so either xlr or MDT
Action: Wombat, defiance anti x, or any other great options for a light weight reliable action
Barrel: All I have been around are proof research so any suggestions here are greatly appreciated
Trigger: Again have only ever used trigger tech so any suggestions are greatly appreciated
Suppressor: Thinking of going with airlock industries

For all components these are what I have heard of, not set and stone on any so open to any and all suggestions. Wanting this build to be a light weight build to keep in mind for all components.

Now I have a few places in mind to talk to and ask about having this rifle built as soon as components are decided. Would like to hear what every ones suggestions are on places to contact about having this build made.

I look forward to hearing every ones suggestions!

7ss would be too close to your 7prc in my opinion. Do a 6 Creed, 6prc or 6um. I did a 6prc last fall (when I ordered my reamer, it wasn't public knowledge that UM was going to sell brass...that might've pushed me to the um, I loathe brass work) at 18" 105 hybrid is going 3100fps and I'm not shooting at the top of pressure. That's about 250-300 fps faster than a straight Creed an a um will be faster than that prolly 100-150fps. Talk about fun and way less recoil than a 7prc.

Proof, Carbon 6, Xcaliber, Hells Canyon and Bart...I've used all those and will use any of those I can get my hands on...I've got a Helix 6 to try but not chambered it up yet.

Other triggers (and TT is fine) are Timney Hit and Bix and Andy...all 3 are great triggers.

Action...those 2 are great actions...you can add Kelbly Atlas Lite (actually has a mechanical ejector that I like better than the plunger type)

Good luck and make sure you update and tell us what you ended up going with.

I will look into those other 2 cartridges. I appreciate those part insights! For sure will keep the forum updated as I go. I always live seeing other builds and taken inspiration from them.

I’d chamber either a 6CM or 6PRC depending on bullet and velocity wants. I think 6 PRC with about a 20” barrel and the new Sierra TMK is going to be bad medicine. Short action, Hunter flush mags in XLR magnesium chassis will be light, easy to pack. I wouldn’t be too excited about a wombat, but an impact NBK or lone peak fusion should be on the list of options.

Since you handload, the 6XC and 6x47 are still awesome! I've always enjoyed shooting something a little different at matches. Really good medium with creedmoor speed and you get a bit of that BR-ish ease of finding accuracy/consistency. Love being able to get XC brass in small or large primer, and it loves H4350 or Varget - I think thats a big plus when components are hard to come by. Good luck.

Cartridge, 22cm or 6CM, or, if you want more wallop, look at 6UM.
I would just use a stock Tikka action; you won't see any downrange benefit from spending twice as much on a custom action.
Trigger Stock Tikka.
MDT Chassis, but there's not much variance among manufacturers in terms of performance. MDT seems to always be available.
Barrel, I have had good results with Preferred Barrel Blanks. If you go with Tikka, check out https://lswildarmory.com/ .
Supressor, Airlock, or Unknown Supressors.

I went through the same delimma and I ended up on the factory Tikka action. Granted I'm having the UM upgrades down to it but at the end of the day, it seems to be the most bomb proof hunting action out there. When I saw the test of the R700 triggers freezing then diving down the rabbit hole and see people talk about their triggers freezing on other forms, thats when I decided to go with the Tikka.
