It's funny how some groups shout to "follow the science" from the highest mountain top until the science doesn't agree with their emotions. Gov. Murphy in New Jersey basically got elected under a promise of stopping bear hunting. He kept his promise for several years. And then to nobody's surprise, people began having all sorts of issues with bears breaking in to homes, killing pets, and in some cases attacking people. Funny how an uncontrolled apex predator in the most populous state in the country is a bad recipe. You should have heard the cries when the bear hunt resumed.

For sure disagree with the initial decision to end bear hunting in NJ, but to their immense credit, they brought back bear hunting after they realized that they had made a bad decision. Wish some others would be so pragmatic.
