New build. New scope options

Yeah. I looked at that but it a little more scope than I want to mount on this rifle. I’m sure it’s nice though
I agree, I wouldn’t put something like that on a hunting rifle. I certainly haven’t done it all, but I’ve never felt I needed more than 15X or 18X power. I rarely use even that.

Why can’t Night force NX8 offer a reticle I like. That would solve all of this. Lol

Dude… you’re making a mountain out of a mole hill. Buy a Maven, SWFA 3-15 or 3-9, or a tenmile. Then just go shoot. The more we shoot, the more we realize we suck and it’s not the equipments faults

Yeah. Not in my make up. I over analyze everything. It has its positives too

I too used to be that guy… the FEW positives that over analyzing brings, are greatly outweighed by just picking something and learning how to use it. I’ll stop mucking up your thread, just sharing since I’ve been there, done that

Mil-C and be done with it or up your budget and get the Mil-R Atacr for a "better" reticle. I shot a bull at 640yds with my 4x32 NX8 Mil-C and had absolutely zero issues with it. I think I was on 10 power as well. I also went through the entire S2H class with another 4x32 and appreciated the .2mil wind holds.

Funny thing is, I believe I actually shoot better groups with the Maven and the larger center dot because it covers my previous shots and I'm not hyper focused on it.

Either one works but it's a give and take on granularity compared to the reticle boldness. I'd take the bolder maven reticle for hunting situations but I've yet to be hampered by the NX8 in any light conditions and I don't ever use the illumination which I find is pointless with my eyes. I literally beat the shit out of that NX8 before I got a shot. My horse was an asshole and ran me into every tree it could. Pulled it out of the scabbard and she was still good to go so that's what I feel very confident in.

Thank you for the feed back. I was looking at the mil-c reticle. I can see it being good at mid to longer ranges. How do you think it will perform in wooded close quarters in lower light. 100 yards and in. I do find myself in those situations often as well

Thats where the majority of my hunting takes place and ive shot about 15 animals with it in those conditions in the past two years. Its a non issue.

That’s good to hear. I’ve kinda gone around full circle. Funny thing is the NF NX8 4-32 F1 was the first scope that caught my interest for this build. Is it perfect…no. But I’ve come to accept I can’t get everything I want in a scope. I’ve also been persuaded to go mils. Even though I was being very stubborn about it. The mil-c reticle isn’t ideally what I want but I don’t think it’s going to be a problem for me either. I’m about 95% decided on this scope. But I’m going to sleep on it another night. Make sure I don’t change my mind again. Lol
