I was only considering the two prc’s just because I’m lazy and don’t want to change my bolt nose. And I could reuse my 6.5 prc brass. So the 22prc may be out of the picture. You run into diminishing returns when the case volume goes up and the bullet diameter goes down. You may not get that much more velocity out of a 22 prc vs a 22 creedmoor. The brother of the 6 prc is promoted here as the 6 UM. I believe it uses a rsaum case necked down to 6mm. It’s essentially a magnum 6mm.
I’m hesitant to set up any new cartridge at the moment due to the advent of alloy cases driving technology improvements at the moment. What we think is great performance now may be left in the dust in a few years.
It’s 75-100 fps slower. I built a 6prc before we could get um brass…Lapua, not my first time to build a round around their brass. I run a 105 hybrid in mine and with 18” barrel it’s 3100. Salty and I don’t regret going prc over the um except when I’m necking downI was only considering the two prc’s just because I’m lazy and don’t want to change my bolt nose. How does the 6prc compare to the 6um?
What’s max charge of n565? PM me if preferred.Sounds like you need a 6 UM. I love that and my 22 Creed. Honestly the 22 Creed covers 99.5% of my needs. But Ryan made the 6 UM sound sexy and I'd been drinking. The 6 UM just has more whallop past 700. Which honestly is a damn far poke without Devine intervention and luck.
22 Creed is pretty slick. Driving 88 tmks at 3073 with a 16" barrel. Basically no recoil. So you can cut weight on the rifle and be ok. But a 6 UM does better closer to 9+ lb.
Shoot tmks and give them a solid jump/mag length. It's still shooting just a touch over an inch or better for 10 at over 400 rounds. Already have a spare barrel ready to go. Load dev now that theres 88 tmks's was easy. All I did was load up 10 with a max charge of 565 and seated them to mag length. Shot the group and it was excellent.
