Probably a long shot, but anyone on here from New Brunswick?

We have an opportunity to move their for a couple years (work related) and are looking into the area. Would be in Fredrickton. I have already looked into the town a little and looked at monthly weather etc. Just wondering what the recreation is like out there?

Ideally, after this stint my wife and I will be able to work for Canadian Government agencies (Environmental/Fisheries) and our end game is to move to Northern B.C. (smithers area).

Just trying to get some more intel on New Brunswick. Looks flat.....any is the deer hunting any good? I see there are alot of bears, and decent moose hunting. How is the fishing?

Thanks.

Not in N.B., but across Passamaquoddy Bay in Eastport Maine, a few years back. You are right, pretty flat- we use to drive up to Crabbe Mountain to ski (northwest of Fredrickton) as it was the closest ski 'mountain'... all 850ft of it, lol. No need for passport then, so actually spent a bit of time in New Brunswick (Moosehead Brewery not to far). Lots of Moose and Black Bears, and there are some nice whitetails on the Maine side for sure (Hill Gould 31pt was shot only about 45min away on the U.S. side, but over 100 yrs ago), but far and few between, but over 200lb dressed weights are shot every year. I can only assume the Canada side must be pretty much the same. Good seaduck hunting on the coast, but remember the largest tide swings in the world are right there in the Bay of Fundy- 50 plus feet in areas. We had turkey's in the area, so also would guess a few up there. I believe there is a herd of Caribou south of the St Lawerance. Atlantic Salmon fishing is pretty dang good to if you look it up. Canada has some laws when it comes to Nonresidents fishing and hunting- I've looked it up a time or two, but wouldn't be able to swing the guide needed. We also use to live in Alaska, and I've driven through Smithers a few times on my cross country adventures- now I would live there in a heart beat if I could- some fishing and hunting I could really get into! Currently living back in Maine (near Acadia National Park- about 2hrs from New Brunswick) due to work, but plan to move back to AK when I can in the future. If you have any questions, please ask- there is some beautiful country, but no where nears as big as Mountana, and often hard to get away from people (as far as I like to be anyway). Good luck!
