New Bronco Sport - for my son

We picked up a new 2025 Big Bend Bronco Sport today. It's actually for my son who will be going off to college soon (Baseball Scholarship). He was driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trail hawk with 73k miles and some big repair bills where on the horizon, so we moved on (Seems the only constant with a jeep product is you will have repair bills). In the 40k miles we owned that jeep, we had to replace an oil pan leak, ac motor, and the final straw was a transmission about to go out for good.

Love the little bronco so far - lots of pep for a small engine. Aesthetically, it reminds me of a lot of the new Toyota Landcruiser - lot of the same body lines. This one has the diamond package with bull bar, skid plates, and AT tires. We ordered some husky floor liners and seat covers today from Amazon. Other than those items, the only other thing I may want to do to it is a 1.5-2" level, but that would be down the road.

He does like to hunt and fish, so the off road options and the ability to have a dependable AWD type vehicle that can occasionally go off road is nice. Also appreciate the good gas mileage - 25 in town around 28/28 combined. I am really grateful for the peace of mind that he has a hopefully worry-free vehicle. I did purchase an extended 7year 100k Ford Warranty thru the dealer, so even after the loan is paid off in 5 years, he will still have some warranty coverage.

Anyways, I know he loves it and should treat him well thru college and the start of his life after. Told him if time allows, need to get a deer in the back that thing and really break it in!

This car was not cheap by any means but still got close to 6k in dealer incentives and ford rebates - 28k before taxes. Also had equity from the jeep and put some cash down.

I wanted the full size Broncho, but my wife had too much trouble getting in/out of it as she is 82 now. I did add some new aftermarket rims.

My only complaint is there are just too damn many buttons, adjustments and lights and warnings! I guess I don't drive it enough to get used to it.

I am actually looking at getting one of these for my daughter. Leaning towards the Badlands version with the 2.0L over the 1.5L. Anyone that has one have any pros and cons?

They’re decent little cars. We bought a new one for our daughter two years ago, I think it’s the Outer Banks model, but it has been trouble free thus far. She heads off to college in three weeks so I’m hopeful it continues to be trouble free. I got the 7 year warranty on it too, that should carry her through college and a little beyond.

Bought my wife a 2024 Big Bend in Eruption green this May. With the incentives and deals it was only $800 more than a 2 year old one with 30k miles, so it was a no brainer. Hers is the “fully loaded” big bend, and the only option the outer banks has that her doesn’t is the “leather” trimmed seats and heated steering wheel. Not many miles on it, but we really love it. I honestly like driving it day to day more than my super crew f150 from a maneuverability standpoint. I always say it drives like a truck in the best way, in the sense that you can see all 4 corners of the thing from the drivers seat, and you can see all the way to the end of the hood. We love it.

My mom has had one for about 18 months as her daily driver, and she swears it’s all she will drive from now on. Her plan is just to roll Bronco Sport to Bronco Sport when it’s time to upgrade. She did the Outer Banks in Cactus Grey (arguably the most popular color around here with how many I see around), and it’s a sweet little rig. She consistently gets 25+ around town and got just shy of 30 on her trip to Vegas to see her sister a couple months ago when her house burned down.

Full size broncos are signficantly more money then the sport version - bigger vehicle.

Dealership had a Raptor Bronco on the lot - 89k sales price....

Got my daughter a badlands with 2 l. She loves it . Lots of electronics stuff but kids know all about that. On an 800 mi trip she got 24.2 mph. But that is imperial gallons. It has tow hooks on front but nothing on rear. A giant pain and cost to put a hitch on now though. Lots of snowy days here.
If your daughter is like mine the stereo system will be a big hit.
They are everywhere up here.

Dealership had multiple Superduties in the 80-95k range - crazy expensive....Thats 40-45k more than I paid for my new Silverado a couple years ago - and I was struggling to justify paying 50k for a truck at that time

Full size bronco hitch is about 50 bucks. Bronco sport hitch is around 190.

Congratulations on the scholarship he just saved you some serious money
My mother in law has a ford escape ( same engine and chassis just different body ) it’s a great little vehicle for jetting around town and decent highway travel, those sports look great compared to the escape!
Just hammer it into his head that it only has a 2000 lbs payload including passengers, so be careful when towing anything and they will get squirrely real quick with a little load , as I see people talking about putting a tow hitch on it
It’s a unibody and those hitch’s are pretty much for bicycle racks
