I was thinking you would say that. I was hoping you had a trick. I measured them and one arrow is about 7/8 and the other two are 1/4”. Thanks for the help! I will see if the shop will return them.

Went to the shop and they heated them up and pulled them out. Reglued them in and should be good. There is a minor crack but should be okay.

Minor crack? If they were originally put in with epoxy (rather than hot-melt) and then heated up, I'd take them back and get them to get somebody to do it right. Bur I'm OCD. Whoever put them in didn't know what they were doing....

An arrow saw, and torch are relatively cheap these days. It's nice to be able to do that kind of stuff at home. Be careful though...eventually you'll end up with a bench full of stuff and continuously trying to "perfect" everything.

By the way, I have a Helix ultra which is very close to your specs and can get 300 axis shafts (28 1/4) with 50 gr inserts, as well as 340 FMJ shafts (27 1/4) with standard inserts to tune. It did take a small amount of tweaking for each set up.

Dude, no. Sounds like the shop owes you three new arrows. If they’re using hot glue, that’s not recommended by Easton. And a crack?? No man. If you’re seeing a crack, hard to saw what other damage is there you can’t see. Heat is bad on carbon and aluminum/carbon shafts. That crack will only get worse. They never get better or stay the same.

Best way to remove those is a drill bit dropped in behind that HIT and point in a safe direction and swing it and have the drill bit knock the insert out. Sounds like that used epoxy, didn't let it cure, and you may have set them leaned up against something and they slid down before the epoxy cured. I'd have a chat with those fellas. Then again, i'm not an Axis fan either, but that's beside the point.

I've been using HIT's in several dozen different manufacturer's arrows for the past 12+ years and have never had a single one of them turn out "wrong". I find it mindboggling that there are that many pro shops it seems that just can't seem to get it right. It's no wonder so many don't like HIT's........they've never seen them done right. I guess this is one that fits the old adage well......."If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself".

Thanks for all the posts. I ended up shooting the arrow Monday and I was lucky. I shot for a couple hours just fine. I grabbed the arrow out of the target and I looked down to find the arrow cracked about 4 inches. I was pretty scared and I asked the guys shooting with me and they pulled the knock off and said don’t shoot that. The shop comped me a new arrow. Lesson learned- I put the inserts in.

Should have also learned you never shoot a cracked arrow.

Also flex your arrows if you suspect damage before shooting them. Any problem with the carbon and the arrow is in the trash. 10 bucks is not worth putting an arrow through your hand

A 300 Axis Match Grade with 50gr Brass insert. 100 or 125 grain tip cut to 28”. 3 or 4 fletch. It’ll shoot money out of that bow.

Just curious what the finished weight and foc of this setup would be, assuming 125 grain head, and 3 vanes?

I love my FMJ’s, I went from a lighter weight beman arrow to the heavy fmj and have had great results.

I just bought a Helix today and they set me up with the gold tip kinetic pierce platinums. They say they are much tougher than the FMJ if you shoot a lot. My DL is 27.5 so we're similar. They come with a brass outsert that adds some point weight for higher FOC and I'll be running a 125 Montec

I'm at 505 gr 12-14% with arrows that meet that spec - mine are 26&1/2 carbon to carbon
