New big agnes shelter

So is the nest just sewn into the fly, or does the nest have it's own walls/ceiling material creating a double wall tent? It looks like the nest and fly share the same roof. If this is the case, there's no protection from condensation, only protection from the ground. Any condensation from the walls/ceiling would just run down and puddle inside on the floor. Seems like you would still need a bivy to help keep things dry. It looks to be well ventilated, but in cooler temps with high humitidy, I think puddling would occur.

If they made it a two piece setup with a mesh wall and rain fly it would have added more weight but would have made it extremely versatile.

This looks like a sweet 3 season tent. Space for setting it up would be a concern but for a shelter for 2 guys it'd be a great choice.

I think I'm going to have to get one of these after watching that. With a few changes to the stakes I bet you could get this thing in at 2.5# trail weight.

These are single wall tents. One in out party had the Scout last year. We had some rain and snow and there weren't any condensation issues. They are vented all the way around underneath the fly. Can't see it very well but there is about 8 inches of mesh sewn in the wall all the way around the tent just underneath of where the fly is. We also had some winds in the 30mph range and it held up fine. Guy that had it said there was definitely a draft the night the wind blew 30 but wasn't terrible.

I'm getting one of the two with the vestibule, probably the Scout Plus.

I like the shelter, but I would say it looks a lot like a Kifaru Supertarp/Paratarp/Megatarp with an interior nest/bathtub floor.

The Scout 2 looks like a modified Megatarp that's having a baby Paratarp out the back end:)

I do like the design and it's close to something we've been testing.

I like it just cause it has a nest. I am not sure if I can get my dad to go floorless so it would be the best of both worlds. If a mega tarp came with a nest but not at much of a price increase I would probably look at it. I have been looking at making a nest for the inside of a mountain smith.
