Got my new Preferred Barrel Blanks Tikka prefit today and spun it onto a T3X action. It’s a lite contour, 20” and 1:8 twist. I’ve hoarded lots of .338 bullets because this one of 2 .338-06’s and is in addition to a couple .338 Federals. I made a dummy round up tonight with Starline .35 Whelen brass necked down in an RCBS FL sizing die and a 200 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. I’ve got an assortment of powders to try, and hope I find a couple of good, accurate loads for it. The dummy round is mag length at 3.370” and chambers well. Looking forward to loading for a new to me chambering. If the Noslers don’t shoot, I’ve got a pile of Speer Hot Cors and various Hornady Interlocks to try. The 200 grain Hot Cors shoot very well in the two .338 Federals I’ve tried them in as well.

Anyone here have any love for the .338-06? If so, I’d love to hear about it.

Sounds fun. I came close one time when pondering a rebore on a Springfield, but ended up going .35 Whelen.

How long did it take to get that Preferred?

I debated .35 Whelen on this one, but already have a .358 win preferred barrel.

I ordered it April 20th and it arrived yesterday.
