New Backfire Lightweight Hunting Chassis?

It did seem like BF took some shots at the rokstok in his marketing video.

He featured the rokstok in his SHOT show recap years ago and was intrigued by the pad being above the bore.

In his chassis video he mentions his recoil pad geometry was above the bore for better shoot ability, but added that the folder was a solution for cleaning rods because it folded out of the way.

What are thoughts on this chassis in comparison to some of the other ones on the market? I’ve no experience with a chassis but stumbled onto this one. Price is in Canadian bucks so not priced to bad. Not to derail thread, just thought it was an interesting comparison.

ok so everyone can make money off Form, other than Form himself?

We all get to decide our own price. Let Form worry about Form. I get the sense that you simply don’t believe he profits off this monetarily, which is why you call it into question.

I think the person above who pointed out that there are non-monetary rewards is closer to the point. Maybe being regarded and treated as an honest person is worth far more than any amount of money? The access to cool things, interesting people, and the ability to make a difference is a powerful incentive. Being able to speak your mind and tell truth to power is priceless.

And it’s not like there aren’t plenty of service members who aren’t doing it for the money, but for the reward that comes in the form of respect, social standing, and getting to do cool stuff. I get the sense that that’s what drives Form, but I could be projecting.

Certainly when I was doing good jobs in the Marines, my attitude was very much, “and they pay me to do this!” Later on, as I got more senior and started to see how the sausage was made and deal with the politics, they couldn’t have paid me enough to keep doing it. I was expected to keep my mouth shut and be a “company man”, but I just wouldn’t do it. I told my bosses what they needed to hear and got to savor the consequences of that. Eventually, I was totally burned out. I wrote a letter to the editor of the WSJ, which got published, and then rode off into the sunset.

If I could find a way to get paid to do cool stuff, I’d be all over that. But I’d rather do cool stuff for free than have to sell part of me to do it.

I can’t comment on that product specifically, but my interactions with that company have been great. I’ve purchased five different sets of bottom metal from them and the quality has always been outstanding.

I suspect more people like him than let on, I like his channel too, has some great info that is hard to find elsewhere. It’s too easy to be a critic with little basis of fact on these forums.

I really like a lot of the things he says and does. I don’t regularly watch his channel, but I enjoyed watching some of his trips to the range where he challenged shooters to do as well as they said they could.

I agree that he’s one of those personalities that “it’s cool to not like.” Particularly when I was on the campfire a lot, there were a lot of very vocal people who didn’t like him. And a lot of it, like a lot of things on the internet, was just a tribe repeating what they heard about him from someone else. The third post in this thread is a great example.

First glance - the cheek piece looks to be forward of where I’d actually make contact with it and the barely existent fore end is dumb.
