I just heard that the Backfire guy is debuting a lightweight hunting chassis next week. Specs are pretty intriguing:

  • Butt pad above bore
  • 25oz
  • Carbon fiber/nylon/aluminum
  • Built-in bubble level
  • Adjustable cheek rest
  • Adjustable length of pull 12.5"-14.5"
  • Arca and pic
  • $799
  • Folding stock?
  • Tikka inlet?

He's not a guy I'd want in my wedding party, but good products are good products and from what I can tell he seems to be a decent guy (textbook Mormon).

No clue on if it will suck, or who will make it, but with those specs and price if it delivers I'll buy several.

I've been badly burned by companies people treat as deities, so I try to look past the CEO's these days unless they are horrible POS's.

I'm cautiously optimistic here.

I like watching his stuff, I think he’s a bit of a goofball but the guy is successful and I like that he’s willing to bring more products to market. I’ll at least take a look at this new chassis.

Looks pretty sweet. His recoil pad works well. Some of his content is cringey, but his moa challenges humble a lot of people

I keep envisioning the Factory Howa Mini Chassis they make that flexes like crazy.

Matt's MTN chassis appeals to me far more especially once its been out and inevitably it get refined even further. Its lighter and mostly Metal and Carbon and folders not an after thought. For those so inclined would be hard to make up a rear stock to suit your demands or message Matt with feedback.

Like most things wait for the 1.1 version. Remember we were all beta testers for Microsoft at some point in our lives.

With regard to the stock: When something new comes out I normally wait around a year or so and take time to read reviews of people that have bought and used it.

With regards to the Jim's Youtube channel, I am in the minority on this thread in that I actually like the channel.
