6.5 PRC go to powder

That must be it. Thank you for posting your numbers. I was expecting to see ~2,725-fps out of a 20” factory barrel and your numbers seem to suppose roughly that.
Ya let me know what you come up with, I would be interested! I do have less than 50 rounds down the barrel so far. I hear they speed up after a hundred rounds or so. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Not sure if that’s a wives tale or not.

Echo what has already been said here. H1000 and N565 are pretty standard performers, probably within 10-30fps of each other and relative accuracy depending on what your barrel favors.

N565
143gr and below, usually better results (for me)

H1000
143gr and above, usually better results (for me)

Tried H4831sc, StaBall HD, N568, N570 with varying degrees of success across a few different rifles and bullet weights.

Primers can make a difference as well, I’ve had slightly better velocity/accuracy in my last three builds with 215’s (magnum) vs 210’s (large rifle).

I have magnums but read several people had varying success with them. So I stayed with the large

Using 56.0gr of N565 and 210m primer got me 2769 fps in a 20” proof barrel with a 147 ELDM

My rifle is a stock Tikka CTR 6.5 PRC. With 58.5 gr of R26 Lapua brass fed 210m and a 140 Sierra game changer I’m getting 3080. With the same load with a 143 gr eldx I was getting 3050. H1000, Retumbo and N560 work well also but R26 is the easy button. I’m down to my last 4 lbs and when it’s gone 60 gr of H1000 is what I’ll use.

RL26 is the ticket. After mine is gone I'll try Ramshot Grand.
I did see better speed with Grand than I did with N565 and seemed like accuracy would be comparable. Ran out of time for testing and had to rely on the 565 for the season. Going to play with Grand more this year with the 147 ELDM and the 153 TMK.

No objections here, gotta play the hand that works best with the rifle in hand. The only general conclusion I’ve come to is that with H1000 loads that lean close to the 60gr mark, magnum primers have been more consistent (accuracy, velocity, hot/cold temps).

Take that with a grain of salt though, about every time I think I have a definitive handle on reloading a specific cartridge, I learn something new and it’s all out the window.

I remember why I stopped using N565. I got back into it for a second and it doesn't go thru the Harrell's powder drop.

Finally got some more loads made up with magnum primers here is the results

58 gr H1000, CCI Magnum primers
2790 fps
2797 fps
2760 fps
2779 fps

They grouped well, much more consistent, and better velocities.

I use h1000 and 4831sc in my 6.5prc it’s a 24” barrel

4831sc-156 Berger 2975
H1000- 125 Hammer HHT- 3170
How do you like the 125 hammer hht? Good results on animals?
I’m thinking about trying that exact bullet and powder with my prc. Adg brass and br2 primers, never reloaded before so hoping it’s a good match.

Haven’t shot an animal with them yet, I only shoot copper ammo when I’m hunting in California where it’s mandated. And it’s been a tough couple Years.
The only thing I can say is they are very accurate and easy to find a load for

I’m also in commiefornia. Shot 5 deer with Barnes ttsx and haven’t had that good of results. So I was thinking about loading up some hammers to try.

From what I’ve read and seen pictures of what the hammer bullets do I think they’ll be better than Barnes
