Hi fellas,
hoping to have the new Backcountry Stock forum up before July 1. A few things:

1) Need some ideas for a name for this new forum. It needs to definitely capture the mules and horses but I don't want to exclude the goat guys (if you pack on domestic sheep, please find another site :) I'm thinking something like "Backcountry Stock Packing" or "Horses, Mules, etc Packing" "Pack Animals for the Backcountry" or something along those lines.

2) Also, Ryan likes to have a catchy descriptive or humorous subtitle so if you look at the forum page, you'll see for the Optics forum the subtitle is "You can't shoot 'em if you can't see 'em! Discuss spotting scopes, binoculars, rifle scopes, etc". I'm thinking something like "All topics for the backcountry stockmen, sheep excluded!" but most of you are more creative than Ryan and I put together

Post up your ideas below or just vote on the ideas posted. Thanks

Well, I like your "Backcountry stock forum"----covers all animals and the category says it all.
Lots of things for the subtitles-----"the original 4 wheelers" "use their backs so you don't have to use yours" "go in heavy and come out heavier" ......................

Randy

Dude go in heavy come out heavier is sweet. Love it. Lol
I also agree, back country stock use is simple but covers all

i am afraid if you name it back country stock that we will eventually get a different mind-set of person on the forum and it will fail. you noted correctly that so many stock forums fail. this site is different and i hope it stays that way.

i think stock or packing should be left out of the title. that way a search may not always get the wrong type of person. all it take is one ol gezzer saying i do it this way 20 times and you dont know squat 30 times and poof- i am gone.

the thread that is going has been great.

that said i got no ideas yet and i do wish it works. a lot. come out heavier??? might have a ring to it.

when 4 feet is better than 2 ?

"Pack Animals in the Back Country"

And along Robby's line of thinking... "For those fixin' to use pack animals, without an unnatural fixation on sheep."

For a future thread/topic, I would be interested in techniques on how to safely leave if possible any sort of pack animal (large or small) alone in areas with wolves & lions (particularly for overnights)?

"Backcountry Pack Animals"

Mike7 I just re-worded your suggestion :) For a subtitle I like what mtnwrunner suggested, or you could try
"let them do the work so you can...
sip a beer"
glass for animals"
work on your tan"
hunt longer, harder and deeper."

I love the idea behind this forum!

I like the idea of the new forum too.

My dad always says "I don't feed them all year so I can hike."

We enjoy hunting off horses.

Ok guys, Ryan's ready to turn it on. I loved the idea "Horses, Hitches, and Rocky Trails" but might get in a copyright issue.

I'm sending him this for the title:

Backcountry Stock

with this subtitle:

Go in heavy, come out heavier

Course Ryan might shoot me down :)

Four legged backpacking forum
Go in heavy come out heavier
Life at 3 miles an hour
Horse mule lama and goat packers forum

Personally, I would leave out "backcountry" because a lot of discussions may just be about care and such at home.....especially for new guys getting into stock, especially llama's.:D
