New member here to Rokslide and forums in general. I know all this information is probably out there and talked about a thousand times but while I’m at my phone at work it’s hard to search for everything I need and compile the info. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some good useful information here and maybe be able to help someone else who is in the same position I am one day.

Mainly a duck hunter who progressed to whitetail and have taken the minimalist/mobile approach to hunting. I’ve really taken what Dan infalt, and Cody d’acuisto talk about and apply it to how I pursue deer. This path has undoubtedly led me to dive into big game hunting and my want to pursue mule deer and elk.

I’ve bought Colorado preference points this year and applied for some other tags out of state hopefully starting some western hunts next year. This year might be tough because my plan is ND for two weeks to hunt close to October. I want to chase a buck I’ve been after for a few years and my wife loves the duck hunting up there.

So I’m starting to build my backcountry gear and really focus on quality gear that will last for years. I’m planning on purchasing the Kifaru Ark frame and a kifaru bag, but still undecided on how large of a bag I should get. Ideally I would like to spend 2-5 days camped out away from the truck and fully immerse myself into the hunt and the experience. So recommendations on bags or if anyone has a good deal on one would be appreciated.

I have a great pair of leica geovid r 10/42 binos that I plan on using without the need of a spotting scope. Not sure if this is the best but the glass is amazing and I will pick up a spotter eventually. Right now I’m just going to focus on finding a good target and putting stalks on. Trophies will come later.

Now I need recommendations on brands or items that are high quality and super lightweight. Stoves, sleeping bags, tents, etc.

Also guys who wouldn’t mind having someone tag along and learn from them. Everyone that is within my circle deer hunts from stands over feeders and has no interest in pursuing game the way I would like. I also am strictly archery only. Once I killed my first deer with a bow I was hooked and have no interest in picking up the boom stick unless it’s for birds.

Hopefully something will come from this and appreciate any and all feedback.

I highly suggest using the search function, all of the questions your asking are covered heavily. Do some reading and learn not just what product, but the why. It will save you money in the end.
