New Applied Ballistics “quantum”. Who’s figured it out?

By inputting a current temp and pressure wouldn’t the app be calculating for density altitude? Seems like that would be the case. I can easily get an external temp reading and my phone will supply pressure (and temp) so no internet connection needed.

Edit: Just updated app. You can manually enter your own number for density altitude if you want or leave it as calculated from temp and pressure inputs.

They added Burris reticles in the last week or so. Seems to be a work in progress, but having the CDMS seems like it will be worth the wait for the final version.

I've been messing with he new version fore a couple of weeks and had a bunch of issues at first. It was bad enough I sent in a "help" ticket and got a response the next day. Funny thing was that by the time I could get out again to mess with the app/binos a few days later almost all the bugs have gone away.
A note on the DA question was that they have found that using station pressure was better and easier than DA.
I've always used station pressure so that made me happy!
As of two days ago the app seems to do everything accurately EXCEPT upload a rifle profile to my Leica Geovid AB+ binos. Support said they are working on a fix for that too so hopefully soon.

It seems to be a work in progress....... app was released without thorough testing or something like that.

The problem with using pressure is that altitude and temp are so easy to get via analog means, but pressure isnt b/c I often dont have cell service and dont carry an enabled watch or similar. Maybe Im doing something wrong but the app will not pull a humidity or other wx info if you dont have service. A paper DA chart using absolute altitude and temp has been my go-to. The new app doesnt seem to support this, it forces you to carry and use a gizmo. If it is capable of accepting a manual DA Im all ears, just cant figure it out.

If you update it it now accepts a manual DA entry

Click on the calculator button below pressure and you can input.

Many phones now have an integrated baro sensor. My iPhone does. One of the updates AB posted added baro support for some of the Samsung phones. If yours doesn't you can do the manual entry as described above.

Divide altitude by 1000. Example 2400ft = 2.4

Subtract 2.4 from standard barometric pressure @ 29.91

= 27.51

Will get you close enough just like a DA chart
Perfect, this did it. Thanks!

I can manually enter a da in the calculator field, but it will not update the DA on the hud once I hit the “apply” button. What am I missing?

I hate that I can't have a range card for my 22 that uses different intervals than my centerfire rifle.

Mine can be intermittently glitchy when trying. Re-do and it applies.

Alternatively you can directly enter temp and pressure values directly in the HUD and it'll calculate DA for you.

AB support got back to me on this, as the DA calculator function is just not working on mine. Apparently they have a youtube video guide going over the new stuff. I havent checked it out yet at work, but thought I'd let folks know in case anyone else is wrestling with the update. Their advice to me was:

In your case, I would suggest:

1) Deleting the app
2) Restarting the phone
3) Reinstalling the app clean

We have a guide on the new stuff here:

I don’t see a reason that they couldn’t include an altitude as well. Pretty easy to guess altitude, temp and humidity without a lot of difficulty without any cell service, why they wouldn’t add them all to stack the odds is beyond me. I’d guess people who beta tested this app are mainly match shooters who are always gathering from a source be it kestrel or weather station.

Fwiw there is an applied ballistics tech thread on snipers hide where they are actively answering questions and seem to be open to adding more hence the DA thing.

I hope they figure it out, personally I like AB when it comes to ballistic curves and tested BCs.

Well after I deleted the app and reinstalled it everything seems to be working for me now. the only bug mine had was that it wouldnt upload a profile to my binos and that is working now.
The version 3.1 has quite a few new features that are covered in the video posted above.
