I’ve been on this same hunt for a bit now. Keep weighing pros and cons on, in no particular order, Christensen Ridgeline, Montana rifle co X3, fierce fury, Kimber mtn ascent. Every time I think I’ve decided on one something pops up and I start over again. This weekend it was a used legendary arms professional.... just couldn’t get past the hit/miss reviews on the early rifles which this was one of. I even keep throwing the wsm into the mix....
I'm in the same boat. I was leaning towards the Fierce Fury but now I'm looking at the CA Ridgeline as well. I have a Fury in 6.5 CM and it shoots .75" when I do my part with factory ammo.
Bergara has a new one a little north of 7 pounds with some nice features called the Highlander, not sure how well received they'll be as they're brand new this year but their mountain rifle is pretty well reviewed and it's definitely under 7 pounds (though w/ a 300 wm will probably have stout recoil) - Both of those rifles are in the 2K arena. I have their B-14 HMR in 6.5 creedmoor and it's a shooter (but heavy).
Yep the cooper timberline has been another one of my hang ups, just a few hundred more dollars.... and you can bet good money it’s a shooter out of the box.
I wouldn't call myself recoil sensitive but a 300 Win Mag around 7 lbs is going to punish you. My 300 Win Mag weighs 9 3/4 lbs with scope and sling and it thumps pretty good with a brake shooting 200 gr bullets.
im a fan of the christensen. Have a christensen in 6.5 with vx5hd 3x15x44 and is a shade over 7lbs and a ba tactical at 8.5 lbs that shoots hornady 200 gr eldx at .5moa all day. Hard to beat the weight and price with the mesa. But ridgeline in 300wm will be my next purchase. But its all about what YOU want.
I own the 300 win Christensen Ridgeline. It shoots lights out with factory ammo and even better with handloads. I switched the radial break for a self timing side port only. Recoil is very manageable not bad at all.
No issues whatsoever I enjoy the rifle.
no votes for the X-Bolt Pro long range? I thought I would see that recommended here at least once already. I have not had the pleasure of shooting one, but they sure seem to handle nicely.
