Congrats on the bucks guys and the story. we spent 4 days in the North end of the rubies last week we saw lots of bucks but only a few good shooter. My son got in a few good stalks but couldn't close the deal. I had to work so he and his buddy went back out. This was his buddy's first time hunting deer and was able to get close enough to a forky and made a awesome double lung shot. My son left this morning to back out so hopefully he can seal the deal.
Great recap Doug... congratulations. I set a goal of 160" and in 9 1/2 days of glassing all of the country we accessed... I only saw one buck that met that criteria. I will post some bigger pics to get everyone's hearts going... Ed F
Nice write up Doug. I enjoyed reading it. Nice pictures and video clip too Ed. Looks and sounds like you all had a cool adventure in Nevada. Thanks for posting.
Shot was 42 yards...you can hear the wind howling, but a slight break in it just prior to the shot. That break is just what I needed to steady the pins and pull through the shot.
I lived vicariously on this one! Its quite a change for me to not be up there this time of year chasing those same bucks. It feels like my whole season is disorganized! Congrats on the shot, the buck, and the vid! Good memories for a long time to come.
Wow! Good job...having just returned from there I really appreciate the work you put in and the patience....TONS of bucks and very few big bucks. It says a lot about your preparation and self control that you were able to pull it all together when the opportunity finally came.
I agree that it's an awful lot of work to get in there only to find that there's quite a few people. I've never hunted more pressured deer with a bow.
