Anyone familiar with hunting elk in Nevada have some last minute tips or advice? This is my first elk hunt since my wife and I moved down here a few years ago and my first backpack hunt. My unit is just south of Ely, so I've found a few areas that I'm going to try and hit and we'll see what happens.

If I were going to give you one piece of advice, it would be to use the run and gun method of locating bulls. Using your vehicle and glassing as much area as you can during prime time, once you've located a shooter bull make your plans from there. A lot of the outfitters use this method for there client's.

I'm not an expert, but I did hunt 231 like packer58 said. Depending on the unit, could be a chance to see lots of bulls post-rut. I saw a really nice bull that came from one of the 22 units when I was out mule deer hunting. Good luck and have fun.

Yeah, my unit is 221, just south of Ely. It's antlerless though, so just looking to have a good time and hopefully bring some meat home.
