Quite an exciting day yesterday in the neighborhood. Rumors differ on how or why it caught fire but thankfully no-one was hurt. Apparently this is not that uncommon. You can hear the ammo cooking off in the video.

……And I’m having trouble just trying to find a few boxes of primers. Now I know who bought them all- lol

If anyone really wants to know, there are a lot of videos on extinguishing electric car fires on YouTube. We just watched a bunch at the station for training last week. One of the main issues is the location of the battery. Can’t get water directly on them.

Someone correct me if Im wrong, but water cannot put out a lithium fire since it makes its own oxygen. So what good does a water cannon do, and why dont fire departments have some sort of chemical spray for the lithium fires? Pretty sure they just try to limit what burns around it right now until the lithium burns itself out. “Green” technology… lol
Lithium batteries do not create oxygen when they burn (like burning tires do) but it is true that, since it is a purely chemical reaction, it does not need oxygen to burn. When Teslas burn and the fire is put out, it is not uncommon for them reignite days later. Crazy stuff.
