I currently have a Promaster 6160 panhead on my tripod. I keep a quick release plate on both my spotting scope and my bino adaptor for quick switching between the two. I'd like to get a window mount for my spotting scope that uses the same quick release adaptor but doesn't look like Promaster makes one. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?

I bought a cheap window mount from eBay for like $15 bucks and took the friction head apart and trashed it and then tapped the part that hooked to the window with 1/4 20 threads. You can now thread a 1/4 20 stud (or bolt with head cut off) and screw matching tripod head on it. I've since moved to a different head and haven't bought a replacement for the window mount. Sorry out of town so no actual pictures. Here is a similar cheap head just take the bottom screw out and drill and tap. I put a large fender washer and epoxy it to the window clamp also.

Outdoorsman makes a super slick setup for moving a tripod head from window to tripod so you only need a single head. Depending on second head cost that might be a better option.
