Need recs on sleeping pads

I run a 3/4 trail scout for back packing and a full size pro lite for work. I recommend both. I thought about going to a xtherm for backpacking but I about pass out by the time I'm done blowing it up.

Use the stuff sack that comes with the xtherm to inflate it. Saves your breath.

Hey, I don’t have any experience with the 2 you mentioned but wanted to pass this sale on. I have had other thermarest pads in the past and have been happy. To me this looks like an awesome deal.

I have a Nemo Tensor Insulated in the long/wide (76'"x25") and I absolutely love it.

The field model you posed a link to is the same thing but with a thicker/heavier bottom to make it more puncture resistant and theoretically negate the need for a ground cloth or a piece of tyvek.

Good deal on the non-feild model I have:

I think that thermarest you linked is one of the old school self inflating foam filled types but I don't know and I don't have any experience with that model. The 3.1 R-value is kinda low, but Nemo doesn't publish their R-value because they don't think the measurement is accurate and not consistent across brands but it think I read somewhere that the insulated versions would be 5-6 r-value range.

I have no experience with the Thermarest other than trying it in the store but I did by the Tensor. As a side sleeper I hated it and slept terribly and woke with quite a sore lower back. I have since replaced it with a Klymit Static V Lux Insulated (4.4R value). The option of 30" wide is very comfortable to me so my arms don't flop off the sides and it is very comfortable to me for my sleeping style and body. Obviously everyone is different. Comfort was my highest priority as R value can be adjusted. Just my .02cent experience

Can’t really go wrong with a Thermarest. If those are the 2 you are looking at, and R-values are similar, go with the lighter one. I’ve run thermarests in the past with no issues. I’ve never run a Nemo. However, get a Klymit V if you’re a side sleeper, you will not be disappointed.
