Hey guys so I am in the market for new hunting camo, in particular a layering system. I am looking at KUiU, Sitka, Badlands, SKRE, or the Browning Hells canyon. I have always used a Cabelas 3 in 1 Parka and cabela s pants. The setup has worked but it's bulky not comfortable and pretty loud. I have never used a layering all season camo setup before and I finally have decided to spend the money and get the right stuff. I want a system that I can use during the summer hunting season all the way to Rain season and -10 degree weather. What items do I need? Please give me your personal experiences with the above brands and also recommend any other hunting clothing companies you would recommend. Thanks

Bought the SKRE Hardscrabble pants, belt, and Alpine light weight shirt. Very pleased with quality and fit. They have bundled layering systems at a discount. Customer service was great.

Cambo you can look over my ultimate SKRE reviewUltimate SKRE Gear Review. I ran the system though the paces last season early archery deer in August to 4th season deer season in November. They made a few improvements this season and you can follow along as I run the SKRE system again this year. I do have a bunch of Sitka I've compared it too.

I highly recommend mixing/matching the layering pieces from reputable companies (that includes non-camo companies) that work best for you vs buying into any one company solely. The chances that one specific system in its entirety meet your needs exactly are low...

I concur. I'd focus more on what pieces you need to make your system, then find the best pieces you can to put it all together. More often that naught you will find yourself gravitating to a particular company based on fit or other factors. I'd call the companies that interest you the most and see what that they recommend.

Based on what you want to do I'd start with a good base layering system, include both light weight and mid weight pieces
Then add some insulation pieces; perhaps a puffy jacket, vest, or in some cases a soft shell
Then complete the package with a hard shell rain protection layer.

The complicated part is that some folks like hoodys, some don't; some only wear merino, some hate merino, some mix it up; some hate soft shells, some love them; some hate GoreTex, some won't go with out it; some like down, some like synthetic. The challenge is to wade through all of our biases and get what works for you. : )

That's a pretty broad range of temps you're needing coverage for. So you'd need to start out pretty light and finish with some solid insulating pieces for the -10°s.

Something like:
-Lightweight baselayer (FL Wick, Sitka Lightweight Core)
-2nd layer (Sitka Core Heavyweight Hoody, Kuiu Peleton 240)
-Baselayer Bottoms (Propper Midweight, FL Fuze)
-Technical undies (FL Wick, Exofficio Give-n-Go)
-Technical Socks (Darn Tough, Farm to Feet)
-Mid to Lightweight Pant (Corrugate Guide, Sitka Mountain, Kuiu Alpine)
-Lightweight Puffy Top (FL Cirrus, Kuiu Super Down Ultra)
-Lightweight Rain Gear (FL Vaporlight, Sitka Dewpoint)

That would probably cover summer to 20° or 30°s depending on your temp range. Add a few pieces as needed like:
-Heavy Puffy Jacket (Sitka Kelvin Hoody w/WS, Kifaru LPP)
-Heavier/Soft Shell Pant (Sitka Timberline, SKRE Hardscrabble)
-Puffy Pant (FL Uncomphagre, Kuiu Super Down Pro)

I'm not trying to suggest those specific pieces, as I have no experience with most, just listing a couple to give an idea of what each category is. Good luck, have fun!
