I’m in a bit of a pickle. Just sold my hunting boots, and have a hunt coming up in 3 weeks. The boots I sold were too narrow, but I could make them work. I’ve been transitioning to minimalist shoes over the past few months, but I’m not ready for something like a Vivo.
I’ll be doing a little plains hunting, but then going after some elk, and snow is a definite possibility. I love my Lone Peaks for work and everyday wear, but probably not the right type for hunting in snow. I’ve considered Lapponia or Thor, or Salomon Quest. I’d even consider a Danner Pronghorn or something. I do want something with wide toe box, and low to zero drop. Need some input. I don’t need a boot that will last for years, as ultimately I want to end up in something like a Tracker ESC when my feet are ready.

Something that complicates finding a shoe is that I don’t live out west, so my only decent local selection where I can try stuff on is Bass Pro, and a very limited selection at Academy Sports.

Boot that last a long time - Danner pronghorn. Downside is they are heavy and don’t breathe well. I believe they come in a wide option as well.

I’m a big fan of the Salomon Quests. I’ve run those for years along with the XA pros. Worn my quests on my last trip to Alaska in the snow and had no issues. Only downside is they take a little to break in but once they are there, you’re good.
