Need clarification on Colorado GMU 85

Ok, so I have read a bunch of opinions on GMU 85/San Isabel NF in the southern Sangre de Cristos. They all seem to say that there's some big elk there but they all seem to "relocate" to private land when the season starts. I have a piece of property just over the ridge line to the west and want to start hunting 85 when I finish the cabin. I was just curious if the private land referred to was Forbes Park and Forbes Wagon Creek to the west and northwest border of 85?

Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to stop hunting up north if it's going to be a waste of my time.

My parents have a cabin in forbes park. They see a ton of elk on all the private land south of there in the fields during bow season. They tried to get me excited by sending pics this year but elk on private land don't get me going.

I took a bunch of photos in October. My wife and I were driving through and there was a herd of about 30 cows and a herd bull, with 4 satellites. The herd bull kept running the satellites off, it was really cool. Also saw more mulies than I cared to count. I just think there might be some great places near the border.....I'll know soon enough I guess.

Nice pictures. They always know when there safe!

Unfortunately we can't hunt them there in Forbes Park, but it's a great place to come to scout before season since I live in Texas and vacation here. I just cannot wait until I retire (if any of us really ever can) because we'll spend 6 months in Colorado and 6 months down here by the coast.
