I just bought a used Kimber pro hunter that had been cut and threaded at 18”. I got a great deal on it, but want advice to run a suppressor. The rifle has a black 7/16 to 5/8 thread adapter. My plan would be to run a TBAC cb brake on top of that to suppress the rifle. I will post pictures of the installed assembly when I pick it up on Tuesday (I’ve seen the gun but have to wait 3 days due to CO law)

2 questions:

1. Would anyone have an issue with adding a cb brake on top of a thread adapter?

2. Since I bought the gun used, should I get the gun checked by a gunsmith to ensure the thread job/adapter were installed properly? Or am I overthinking this?

Thanks in advance

At a basic level, if I don't know who threaded a barrel, I'll pull the bolt and look down the barrel with the suppressor attached(from breech). eyeball center of barrel and as long as you can't see the suppressor bore intruding into the barrel bore line or appears uneven, you're good.

I would want to get it inspected for alignment (or if you have the rods to check). With an aftermarket/unknown threading job, plus an unknown adaptor, then the CB adaptor, then the suppressor…tiny flaws can lead to major problems.

I don’t even think I would trust an eyeball inspection, but that’s just me.

While I don't think that there is anything "wrong" with using a QD mount on an adapter, I would much prefer to get a mount with the same thread pitch as the barrel. Where I do differ however is whether to use a QD setup on a suppressor at all. I am a DT guy. I see no purpose for a QD setup other than to sell people more stuff.

If really want to make sure everything is fine, then get one of these and check it properly: https://accuracy-solutions.com/prod...mOujb9IltagyLaKNA-BXvIv-hqWTklnxMFsta3GwPDY0b
