Need a scope for a Ruger SFAR

Not sure what its purpose is, I am hoping to take it to AK next year on a moose hunt. Maybe a 1-6 or 1-8 LPVO? Any recommendations?

You will be fine with a Redfield 3x9, I have it zeroed at a 2 mil hold under. I shoot to 700 or so at 9X. Drop mag to 4.5 and use the reticle to get 1000. Your issue won’t be magnification.

Your issue will be the likelihood your adjustments are not repeatable.

Use your reticle. At 600 yards you will be able to maintain full magnification.

I have the same rifle. I put a fair amount of time and thought into optic choice. Went with a Trijicon Credo 1-6X SFP. The led dot in nuclear bright. Glass is very clear. I’ve not tested the tracking and turrets. Shows “Made in Japan” right on the bottom…which is just fine w me

My intention was not home defense. But woods walker, White Tail tree stand rattling rifle. And NW Montana Grizzly country trail cam ramble rifle. I think it’s close to perfect.

EuroOptic has a Steiner p4XI 1-4 lpvo with the less popular reticle on sale for below $500. Not as much magnification as you want but the glass is great. I just bought one to put on my 6.5 Grendel. Haven’t shot it yet. EuroOptic also has a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 lpvo specifically for a 308 with a BDC reticle for $800. Seems like a reasonable deal.

How does yours shoot?

Meh.....I had a write up on it somewhere in here two months ago. Started about 3-4MOA. Handloads all of them. Tweaked some loads. Wasn't a fan of 155 Amax. 168 ELDs helped. Powder swap helped.

Shoots better w suppressor on. Currently has factory muzzle brake OFF. I am pretty close to a consistent 1.5MOA now.

I just bought a Primary Arms (gag) blemished Philippines made 1-6 FFP scope for under $400. It's not here yet. Illuminated with that Raptor reticle in it.

For topping off an AR rifle that I may dig a hole and chunk it in with several hundred rounds of ammo and bury it
