Hi there,
I to am looking to team up with someone. I reside in Michigan and have hunted elk on numerous occasions in CO, ID, WA and MI. I am planning a mid September archery hunt. I typically have a partner, but he has sorta lost interest in hunting and would rather spend time in town or at camp. What type of hunting are you looking for? I prefer either a total back pack hunt (cowboy style) or hunt from a base camp and maybe mix in a few nights of spike camp hunting. Give me a private message back, look forward to hearing from you.

Hey bdubwright and PY Buck, I live in Summit County Colorado and I have been escouting and boots on the ground scouting quite a bit this preseason. I am looking for a guy or two to join me. I'm not sure what GMU's you were looking at and I am also looking at 3rd week in September OTC archery hunt. P Y Buck, I am also originally from MI.

Another Kentuckian here. I can’t do it this year, but I may be interested in teaming up for a trip next fall.

CNG,

Let's stay connected. It's much better to plan ahead. I wish my hunting partners could make it this year but unfortunately "life" interfered.

I’m out of Kentucky planing on hunting the last week of September. Either Colorado or Idaho. I would be interested in meeting up. What type of hunting are you planning to do. Calling, spot an stalk, still hunting etc..

The area I have been scouting has good visibility for glassing meadows in the mornings and evenings. But it also has areas of thicker timber where we could do some cow calling/bugling and still hunting in the afternoons.

Base camp is what I had in mind. I think we can pack in a few miles on our first day. We can choose an area to base camp that has good glassing nearby for mornings and evenings. If we get into elk and it requires us to shift our camp, I am always willing to relocate. My total pack for five full day hunts is 60lbs+bow. It seems to be an inevitability running into other hunters/hikers. I am dedicated to getting into the nasty stuff but the problem is I think a lot of other hunters are too.

Wait- you got a MI elk tag?! How was that? I know they're only in that one area of the state (Pigeon River, is that right?).

I'm originally a Michigander myself, now a Colorado transplant.

Sorry for not responding sooner. But yes I was fortunate enough to draw a Michigan elk tag back in 1994. Cow only though. Was sucessful on DIY public land. Seen alot of elk. I was hunting the area around Vienna Corners if your familiar at all.
