Looking for recommendations for a good cot pad/mattress. I'm middle aged and everything hurts, so I need it to be comfortable. I've seen some memory foam ones on Amazon that look nice, but I don't know how well those hold up over time. I'd like to find something that is not too bulky or heavy and would prefer to stay under $200 if possible.

I just went down this rabbit hole, spent days researching and reading reviews. I’m prioritizing comfort, but still want a packable pad. Ordered the Sea to Summit Ether XT pad yesterday which is 40% off right now. If you’re a Veteran, log in with govt and get another 20% off.

Exped mega mat is super comfy, not crazy durable though…. I treated it well and still popped it. The hest memory foam is super comfy, a bit more $, can’t pop this one…. Car camping only though..

I picked up a Hest foam mattress this last summer when they ran a sale. Used it to sleep in the back of the truck bed during archery elk season. Should be a good option for a tent or in a wall tent/cot setup. Biggest “like” about it is no need for inflation. It’s a little big when rolled up but I found it super comfortable and a big improvement over the air mattresses I was using before. Very quick to roll in or out if you’re constantly moving camp.

Get a cot and a born outdoors bedroll. Solid combination!

Exped Megamat Long-X Wide. I'm 5'7" and 175lbs and I sleep like a baby on this pad on a Coleman cot. I bought an extra and have loaned it to everyone who has hunted with me and they have all purchased one. $259 bites a little but after the first night you'll feel it was worth $500. If not return it.

Dang those things are pricey! They look like they would be good to throw onto a mule, but I am going to have to stick with the canvas bedroll.

Nearly 800 bucks for a 30-40° sleep system that weighs +/-16lbs seems excessive.

I use a 2" foam topper on top of my backpacking pad for camp use. It works great. I just leave the topper in the truck when I am backpack hunting.

I run a teton cot and mondo pad. Not $200 but I think worth it.

My current setup for car camping or float trips is a Camptime cot (made in the USA), and a Big Agnes’s Qcore deluxe insulated pad. All-in its probably under $300.
